(TRNS)- Former Kansas Sen. Bob Dole said Thursday that he liked every GOP candidate running for president — except Ted Cruz.
During an interview with ABC News, Dole said that he âlikes nearly every candidate.â Dole then turned to his wife and uttered under his breathe âexcept Ted Cruz.â
Dole recently endorsed Jeb Bush for president in what continues to be a wide open Republican primary season.
First George Bush, now Bob the Senile. It tells you who really frightens the Establishment, and it isn’t the builder from New York.
This is all the more reason to support Cruz.
If Cruz were to win the nomination I would look for a Cruz/Rube Cruz/Kasich ticket to placate the liberals of the party if that is possible. All this predicated on the fact that Cruz would allow such no class libs. on the ticket. Sort of like Reagan taking Bush41. If I had to choose between these two turds I would go with the Rube. Kasich is such a horses ass, like Algore on speed.
You are so correct—great endorsement for Senator Cruz.
Interesting.
It was Dole that ended the conservative revolution elected in 94 with his nomination for 96. He is king of the RINO losers.
An excellent endorsement of Cruz!
Wide open primary? Yes, from Trump’s perspective as everyone else is way behind.
Yes, alive and kicking at the ripe old age of 92.
Bob was every Democrat’s favorite Republican; counted Dan Rostenkowski and Tip O’Neill as good friends. And why not? Michel never made waves and let the Dims do whatever they wanted. As I recall he presided over one of the smaller GOP minorities in the House in recent history.
And of course, the 1994 was Bob’s crowning achievement. Newt Gingrich and his allies were trying to get rid of Michel, who was convinced the GOP would never again be a majority in the House. So, he announced his retirement in ‘94; Newt issued the Contract With America and the rest is history.
I respect both Michel and Bob Dole for their military service; both were wounded in action. But they represented everything that was wrong with the GOP for much of their careers.
If Michel wants to retain what little credibility he has left, he’ll refuse to jump on the anti-Cruz bandwagon. But if he’s able to go after Cruz, he probably will; as a card-carrying member of the GOP-E, it’s reflexive.
I initially supported Cruz. No more. I would be very unhappy to see Trump pick him. He won’t as Cruz would bring nothing to the ticket. Tell me of a single conservative that would either vote for Clinton or sit out and risk she wins? None. So Trump is free to pick someone that actually adds value to the ticket. The question is who?
Oh god, Bob Dole and his Viagra. I think Cruz should be grateful Bon doesn’t fancy him.
I agree. Cruz can be effective in the Senate, SCOTUS, etc. I’m thinking like you, what does he bring to the ticket other than will eat up the Dem VP in the debates.
I don’t think Trump will pick a female, but maybe he will.
One thing for sure, he seems to get to the heart of a person. He said the other day that there are people on the stage with him that he would most certainly consider.
The GOPe is coming unglued and it is fun to watch. BOB DOLE? Hahaha! Like his opinion matters to the republican base, anyway!
Of course Bob Dole dislikes Cruz - Ted must make him feel SO inadequate!
Bob Dole” “Bob Dole likes every Republican candidate but Ted Cruz.
“Bob Dole does not like Ted Cruz.
“Bob Dole will now eat his oatmeal,...
“...and Bob Dole will now take his medications.”
However, the people in Flyover are bigger and deeper than the paper tigers in the GOPe.
We got rid of Eric Cantor, demoted Nancy Pelosi, forced Harry Reid to admit he is a loser, we got Andrew McCarthy to reconsider his Speakership, and Dan Rather lost his vaunted job at CBS - because of us.
We might put up with Paul Ryan, but he is treading on thin ice.
The thing about Cruz is that when flyover Republicans learn about him, that is when he moves up in the polls. So, the media and the GOPe are trying to keep him from ascending, unlike Bush who the more people know about him the less they would like to vote for him.
They marginalize Cruz at their peril.
Yep thanks to him (and Perot again) we got Clintoon in ‘96 again. The progenitor of all that is the GOPe today.
Bump!
That aside...one has to wonder if Dole has enough snap to understand that his asinine remarks only serve to further alienate the base from squishy establishment Republicans. I'm waiting for another from the ranks of the GOPe to take a swipe at Cruz. Those swipes are real vote getters!
*Rush-speak for "campuses."
Bob Dole: the epitome of "It is my turn, dammit, make me the nominee" in the GOP-e.
Yeah, the people who can get him votes sure did great getting Dole, Mccain and Romney elected...
