(Reuters) - The U.S. postal workers union's executive board said on Thursday it had voted to endorse Bernie Sanders for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, the union said in a statement.
The endorsement was a setback for Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, who has been vying with Sanders, her chief rival, for the support of organized labor.
"Politics as usual has not worked. It's time for a political revolution," said Mark Dimondstein, president of the postal workers union. Dimondstein called Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, "a true champion" of workers.

Yet some wonder why the USPS is in such bad shape...
Unions and Commies. Joined at the hip.
Unions/socialism. Workers of the world unite. Communists.
The Democratic base is lukewarm about Hillary.
But they love Bernie because he is a socialist.
That’s who they want.
Stick a fork in it Watson. It’s all done.
IMHO
“Politics as usual has not worked. It’s time for a political revolution,” said Mark Dimondstein, president of the postal workers union”
He is right, time to close the Post Offices.
Pray America wakes
If they mail in their campaign donations, Bernie will never see them until after the election.
“It’s time for a political revolution”
Yet we hear that those on the right who still hold up the Constitution are the “extremists” on the “far” side of politics.
I wonder if this Dimondstein ever worked as a regular Postal worker....
The largest employer, with huge pension liabilities of which a funding stream IMHO is in question, no matter what Congress did or might do, and free market competitors eating their lunch, does raise a lot of questions.
With it in the Constitution that we have such a system, it doesn't preclude Congress from keeping 51% running to comply with the Founders and bidding out the remaining 49% to UPS and Fed-Ex and having a 3 way Competition IMHO.
I'd love to see those "games begin"....
Two worthless subsidized failures from the last century.... Go figure!
Big slap in the face to the Hildebeast.
Not that I care who the postal service endorses. If I were president, I’d shut it down and let UPS, FedEx and other private companies handle the mail.
This ain’t Ben Franklin’s post office.
American Postal Workers Union? I think they were taken over by CPUSA a long time ago.
“But they love Bernie because he is a socialist.”
They love Bernie because he won’t shut them down. They are not convinced Hillary will fight for her life to keep them open for business and rightfully so. At the drop of a hat, she will go crony capitalist and give the USPS over to a donor.
Bet Bernie promised the union he will nationalize UPS and FEDEX.
Bernie would turn our country into the postal service.
More like Department of Motor Vehicles with machine guns.
