Donald Trump speaking in Springfield, Illinois, November 9th, 2015.
Business Insider is following Donald Trump on the campaign trail this week.
Last night, Trump spoke at a rally in Springfield, Illinois. More than 10,000 people attended. It was standing-room-only, floor to rafters. According to the Trump campaign, Trump's attendance shattered a record set by Elton John 37 years ago.
In the view of this Business Insider reporter, many political pundits do not yet appreciate how compelling a speaker Trump is. They also do not yet appreciate how much passion and energy he can inspire. Trump's can-do reputation and the public's disgust with normal politicians and politics as usual are fueling a startling degree of fervor in his supporters.
In short, this Business Insider reporter believes that Trump's potential as a candidate is still being underestimated.
Springfield is where Abraham Lincoln is from. President Obama launched his own campaign from there as well.

Nice crowd, truth be told. Ride it while you can. It won't last. Obama pulled these too throughout 2008 everywhere, with legions before him slain in the spirit. How would he dare today? Oh well. This FR post remains forever.
You continue to bean idiot!
Not sober enough.
The last time I had such a good feeling, it was gas. But when it passed, it was a memorable event...for me at least. Can't speak for the others in the room.
Hopefully things will be different this time.;-)

Cruz is desperately needed to clean out the justice department. He’s the only one who can do it. He’s young, he could end up being president for two terms later on.
Wow, impressive crowd.
Trump is a predator. He will kill when the opportunity presents itself.
Trump is a honey badger.
Every second placer says that right up until they accept the offer.
Ate so many beans his brain filled with methane. Anthropomorphic cerebral warming?
Oh noes...let's meet in Paris to save editor-surveyor.
Thanks for the laugh FRIEND :) I needed one today.
May God bless.

The sad thing about Ross was that he could have won, and he mucked it up.
He was climbing through 30% when all of a sudden his got palpitations and dropped out.
I understand what you’re touching on. Trump isn’t dropping out. He could conceivably be knocked out, but I don’t see that happening.

But I think you already knew that.
I know you would like to see Cruz too. I understand that. You’re not against Trump if he gets the nomination, and I think that is reasoned.
Trump had big crowds from day ONE. And if you look at the pictures closely, you can actually see the joy and love on their faces. They clamor to touch the man.
Romney had nothing like this. His crowds came at the end AFTER he was the nominee.
Thank you. I always respect your posts and threads b
“If he goes Turd party Hildabeast wins.”
I don’t think so... “Trump” is a name anyone can spell correctly on a write in ballot.
If there is funny business he could probably win going that route...
Thank you. I also appreciate yours.
It’s tough sometimes to gauge things.
We’ll see how it goes...
You could be right.
