Trump said it himself during the debate that any of the tax plans of all candidates are far superior to the mess we have now.

Taxes based on Gross Sales is the great equalizer. It will help small businesses the most. Because they have less waste and therefore less deductions in current system. Large businesses have so many deductions, they get away paying less taxes. Of course the tax rate for each business will be based on the type of industry they are in. Profit margins are different for different businesses.

For example retailing has the smallest of margins usually.

Are you promoting a sales tax or an income tax based on Gross Receipts?

(Lord, I need to go to sleep...)

Taxes should never be based on gross sales. Gross sales between various businesses are never comparable! For example a gasoline service station can have extremely high gross sales, but a very low profit margin, because the markup on gasoline is very small, only a few cents per gallon, but they sell MANY gallons at high volume, giving an exaggerated sales volume. On the other hand, a retail store that sells high end desirable consumer goods may sell fewer items but have a very good markup. The two stores that have the highest gross sales per square foot in the country are completely different. The number one stores with over $10,000 per square foot of sales, which just took over that ranking last year, is a gasoline chain, but their profit margins are very low. While the number two stores, which were number one for over ten years, are the Apple retail stores with around $6000 per square foot--which outsell Tiffany Jewelry's $4500--but Apple stores have the highest profit per square foot of any retail store as well.

Treating those two chains equally by taxing them on gross sales receipts would be insanity. It would force the gasoline chain into bankruptcy, but would be a blessing to Apple. . . The proper way to tax any business is on net revenue, not gross sales receipts. Net Revenue is gross sales receipts after the legitimate business expenses such as cost of sales, inventory, payroll, overhead, product acquisition and/or manufacturing costs, shipping, bookkeeping, etc. are subtracted. Only then will you have a fair and equitable basis for a flat taxation to be applied.

Apparently you have never owned a small business. There is no such thing as a new idea and Ted’s VAT tax is not new. I had the same thing when my office was located in DeKalb County, GA. County tax almost identical to TEd’s. I just lied like a dog on the tax form or it would have cost me a fortune. It was a totally unfriendly business tax.

Ted Cruz has never owned or operated a business or even worked in the private sector that I know of. Donald Trump has and he knows what is good for business and what is bad. His tax plan is the better one to jumpstart the economy. Its much more small business friendly.
