MARKSVILLE â Police body camera video shows the father of a 6-year-old autistic boy had his hands up and posed no threat as police opened fire, severely wounding the motorist and killing the boy, the man's lawyer said Monday.
"This was not a threatening situation for the police," said Mark Jeansonne, the attorney for Chris Few, who remained hospitalized, missing the family's funeral for 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis.
Jeansonne spoke with The Associated Press after a closed hearing for the two marshals. He said the judge ordered both held on $1 million bond. Derrick Stafford, 32, of Mansura and Derrick Greenhouse Jr., 23, of Marksville each is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.
The lawyer said he still hasn't seen the video, but its contents were described to the judge during the hearing.
He also said that while Few's condition is improving, he has not yet been told that his son died at the scene.

from what I have read he was not running from the law but two thugs trying to kill him. See the Daily Mail article. These two thugs are little more than process servers who, along with their bus supervisor ‘boss’, have GREATLY overstepped their boundaries.
One has already been indicted for two counts of rape in 2011 along with several counts of police brutality and now murder.
NO gun, NO warrant(now), and why aren’t they releasing the video?
The lawyer said he still hasn’t seen the video,

Interesting. We’ll just have to take a lawyer’s word for it.
Looks like we won’t get any solid evidence until the trial.
FWIW, here is a comment at the New Orleans newspaper website.

Yeah, I had earlier heard from a law enforcement friend who was doing a detail at the Marksville casino at the time of the shooting. He said the word was out among police types almost immediately that Few was assassinated because of a romantic triangle, but not with one of the cops’ girlfriends. Rather, the word was that one of the cops had an interest in Few’s girlfriend, and Few and one of the cops had previously had a run-in because of this. So apparently the on-duty Marksville cop showed up at the scene as a back-up just seconds before the assassination began, and everything was recorded on his body camera. This is not a matter of a question about the police thinking they were being threatened. Few’s vehicle was stopped and his hands were raised in surrender, and he and his son were murdered by the two officers. This should not be a 2nd degree case — it should be a first-degree murder case. No question that the two officers who were not charged at going to provide the prosecution with everything they need in exchange for not going to prison.
Louisiana.
Some things never change.
Where’s Sharpton and Jackson??!!
Original reports said he was backing up cause road was a dead end. That could be stretched to mean officers felt threatened by vehicle. But, the car stopped, dad’s hands raised, no other gun at scene.
Massacre.
That was my immediate reaction, particularly the one on the bottom. I guess looks can be deceiving.
Of course if they were muslim, we would never hear about it, until a local snitched.
Second source confirms “hands up.”

MARKSVILLE, La. — Footage from a police body camera appears to show that the father of a 6-year-old autistic boy had his hands in the air before city marshals opened fire, severely wounding the motorist and killing the boy, CBS News has learned from a law enforcement source.
They both have ‘empty’ eyes.
Can you post a link? I missed this one.
Oh, don’t count Barry short when it might come to his chance to federalize the police force in that municipality, county, region or state.

Only in Obama’s Amerika would he have been allowed a gun and a bdge.
Stafford was indicted on two counts of aggravated rape in 2011, while he was a Marksville police officer, according to the archives of the Alexandria Town Talk. Stafford, of Alexandria, was indicted by a Rapides Parish jury, the Town Talk reported at the time. The then 28-year-old was accused in that case of raping two different women in assaults occurring in 2004 and 2011.
Fewâs fiancee, Megan Dixon, told The Guardian newspaper on Thursday she watched what led up to the shooting.
Dixon said she saw the two marshalsâ black and white cars approaching Fewâs vehicle from behind as he pulled away from a bar where they had been talking. She said she saw Few point toward his son, indicating he was in the car and didnât know what to do.
Few was afraid of the marshals because he had a prior personal conflict with one of them, Dixon told The Guardian.
Several key details of what led to the shooting have still not been made public. The officers involved in the shooting have not yet been interviewed by investigators, police said.
The marshals initially said they were trying to serve a warrant on Few, but state police have not been able to find a warrant out for him.
The shooting happened at about 9:30 p.m. at the end of the chase. Itâs also not yet known when the incident started.
According to the Acadiana Advocate, Few has several traffic violations and a recent DWI conviction, but there were no outstanding warrants or ongoing criminal cases in Marksville city court or the area district court. Police and the district attorney said they were not aware of any outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Why don’t they have the height yardstick behind them and a plate on their chest to identify who they are? Are they formally booked for 2nd degree murder or not?
He wasn’t running from the law.
He was actually afraid to stop, unarmed, as he and one of the two cops had already had issues, on another occasion, reportedly.
However, he did stop, and there is no complaint that he led them on any kind of a chase with his son in the car.
They were assigned to deliver warrants. There job was somehow “expanded” by a judge, due to a dispute about money with the mayor, who usually is over the community police force. Clear as mud, I know, but that is what was reported elsewhere this morning on internet. Two buffoons got to play chase and fire their weapons, which was clearly above their pay grade and mental capacity given the tragic result.
That rape charge must have gone away. The outcomes of these charges are unknown, but obviously he was cleared or he would have a record of jail time, which is easily discoverable.
The sheriff in his press conference reported one cop was wearing a body camera. He said it was the worst he had ever seen, what they had done.
That is going to be the solid evidence.
I thought they both appeared to have been crying possibly, particularly the bottom photo.
