Carson Blows Up at Reporters During Presser: Why Don’t You Care About Obama’s Past?
Mediaite ^ | 11/6/15 | Josh Feldman

Ben Carson faced some combative reporters during a press conference in Florida tonight about the various issues in his background that have been raised this week.

He dismissed Politico's report about him not being formally offered a West Point scholarship, simply insisting it was relayed to him that he could get one with the kind of accomplishments in his background.

He declared, "There is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me... Next week it'll be my kindergarten teacher who said I peed in my pants."

-snip-

"I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one President Barack Obama."

Did you know that US Marines can attend the US Naval Academy at Annapolis?? OK, snarkiness off.

I honestly did not know that. I thought they attended the Marine Academy in Orlando. At SeaWorld.

Idk, it sorta seems like Carson brought this on himself: saying you were “offered a scholarship” is not the same as someone telling you, “hey, you could probably have that scholarship if you wanted it.”

Next is he going to say he was almost in the Seals?

At this website, West point lists multiple nomination methods:
  1. The Vice President
  2. Senators
  3. Representatives
  4. Delegates to the House of Representatives
  5. Governor of Puerto Rico
  6. Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico
  7. Secretary of the Army
  8. Sons and Daughters of "career military personnel"
  9. Regular Army and Reserve Components
  10. Sons and Daughters of Deceased or Disabled Armed Forces Veterans
  11. Sons and Daughters of Persons Awarded the Medal of Honor
  12. Army Junior and Senior ROTC Programs and Honor ROTC Units of Other Services

Technically you are absolutely correct. General Westmoreland did not have the legal authority to nominate Carson to West Point. However, if a senior Army General requests a specific person be accepted to West Point, a senator/representative would likely nominate the person. In addition, if a senior Army General puts in a good word, he can probably get Secretary of the Army to nominate someone.

Nothing on the website that I can visibly see, unless hidden in some obscure spot.

Sons and Daughters of "career military personnel" (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard)

The category "career military personnel" refers to members of an armed force (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) who are on active duty (other than for training) and currently serving with at least eight years of continuous service on active duty, or who are, or who died while they were, retired with pay or granted retired or retainer pay. Also included are service members currently serving in the reserve component who are credited with at least eight continuous years of service computed under section 12733 of Title 10, United States Code. Finally, reservists who would be, or who died while they would have been, entitled to retirement pay except for not having attained 60 years of age are also included in this category.

â—¦Must furnish a statement of service, retirement orders, or casualty report

◦A stepparent's military service is applicable for this category only if the applicant was adopted. •Regular Army and Reserve Components (Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard)

To request a nomination under this category, submit your commander's endorsement, which is included in your application. Please provide your commander with the following Commander's Guidance that can be used during his interview with you. Soldiers who are not offered an appointment to West Point are automatically considered for enrollment in the United States Military Academy Preparatory School (USMAPS).

•Sons and Daughters of Deceased or Disabled Armed Forces Veterans

This category is for sons and daughters of deceased or 100% disabled Armed Forces veterans whose death or disability was determined by the Veterans' Administration to be service-connected, and for sons and daughters of military personnel or federally employed civilians who are in a missing or captured status.

â—¦Include a brief statement concerning the date, place and cause of death or the details of disability together with the claim number assigned to the veteran parent's case by the Veteran's Administration (if appropriate).

•Sons and Daughters of Persons Awarded the Medal of Honor Sons and daughters of Medal of Honor winners are eligible under this category.

â—¦Include a brief statement of the date and circumstances of the award of the Medal of Honor, if applicable.

She don't care. She's gonna rah-rah her candidate (who remembers who that is?) regardless of what anyone says to her.

They do not care about Obama’s past because he is evil, muslim, Godless, homosexual and who knows what else that involves the way the media lives and they are going to defend him to the death.

George Bush would be highly envious and actually was envious of Carson’s qualifications..

“In 2001, Dr. Carson was named by CNN and TIME Magazine as one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists. That same year, he was selected by the Library of Congress as one of 89 “Living Legends.”

He is also the recipient of the 2006 Spingarn Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the NAACP. In June, 2008, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bush, the highest civilian honor in the land.

Dr. Carson holds 67 honorary doctorate degrees. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Institute of Medicine/National Academy of Science, the Horatio Alger Society of Distinguished Americans, and many other organizations.

He sat on the board of directors of numerous entities, including Kellogg Company, Costco Wholesale Corporation, the Academy of Achievement, and is an Emeritus Fellow of the Yale Corporation, the governing body of Yale University.

"On a side note.....I can’t even get through a video on these sites anymore because all of the crap they have running in the background freezes my browser up."

Maybe an IT insider can explain why, but about five months ago a LOT of websites suddenly changed to a bottomless (you can scroll down seemingly forever), image-rich format that often freezes computers and causes browsers to shut down. Since everything takes so long to load, it is hard even to select a particular story, because everything is always in motion. I hate it. National Review Online is one of the worst.

On my computers, if I do not keep the Flash player updated, I have frezzeup issues like that.

I have also found that Firefox browser seems to work better as it updates flash automatically..

"Excuse me! I have EVERY right to say what I like, where I like and when I like...don’t talk to me that way!!!"

And people have a right to disagree with you. I thought Carson "took the heat" very well; on the footage that I saw, he remained very calm. He did not come across as a crybaby.

Oh...and another issue is the age of your computer processor, amount of memory and the speed of your service.

My computer is pretty new, but I think these new, graphic-rich website formats require more RAM than my computer has. I never had these problems with my old computer, and it had less memory than my current one.
