Ben Carson faced some combative reporters during a press conference in Florida tonight about the various issues in his background that have been raised this week.
He dismissed Politico's report about him not being formally offered a West Point scholarship, simply insisting it was relayed to him that he could get one with the kind of accomplishments in his background.
He declared, "There is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me... Next week it'll be my kindergarten teacher who said I peed in my pants."

Naw,,,,,I’ve already stated why I defend him against the MSM and you....of course.
But it would be nice if you stated why you are so doggedly attacking Carson.
Personally, I am thinking that you see him as a electoral danger to your man Trump.

The 60's were a different time. Back then, it appears that the USMA referred to "scholarships" in an ad.
Ben Carson may well have had that interaction and he may well have been able to get a nomination to WP.
And he equally may not have had the interaction, and definitely would not have gotten into West Point without the prerequisite nomination from a Congressman, 2 Senators, or the VP. Not on some General’s say so, powerful as they may have been. Congress would not give up its prerogatives at some General’s insistence.

Was that a West Point ad specifically, or just a general ad. Where’s the link to the ad. I want to read it.
I believe that high ranking military officers have some sway within the halls of congress. Then and now. They both mingle in the same crowds. They go to parties and functions and are certainly familiar with each other. I believe that the scenario Carson spoke of, some time ago, is plausible.
He never said he received a scholarship. What he said was that he had a full scholarship opportunity that he turned down.
That opportunity came through ROTC. He was in the catbird seat!
He went on to become the premier brain surgeon on the planet.
For what possible reason would he make stuff up about something that never happened and that pale in comparison with his actual life accomplishments..
It would be akin to telling a fib about catching a ball at the world series, or catching a big fish that got a bit bigger. But he did not do that.
He told the truth but it has been intentionally mischaracterized and salted with lies based on distortions.
You are participating in a media crap-fest. The very thing we hate around here.

Here it is lovely lady. Explain to me how Dr. Carson, in the video posted, was not taking the heat? I saw a man dealing with a roomful of attackers. Where in all of that did he not handle it, not answer well, explode as the headline screamed? Why should anyone believe you summed up his performance in your statements? Carson is not my first pick but he did a fine job. It appears your love for the Donald has clouded your view of any other candidate. Where did he not take the heat and why should he stay out of the kitchen? Your turn.

The time period these ads were being released was the same era Dr. Carson was referring to. I’m not sure how old you are, and it doesn’t matter except for context. The Army and all branches wanted more minorities as leaders in those years. The ad fits those times I well remember.
I’m not arguing, I’m just interested in the history and wonder if Dr. Carson might be telling the truth. He’s not my guy, nor is Trump, so I’m not invested in either one. In fact, today when I read the headlines I believed everything Politico published. Later I read some snippets from Rush and I began to think about it. This evening while listening to Levin, I heard him say these ads were run nationally during that time. I thought holy crap, they (left) have done a hit on Carson. So I dug some more...and find the ad I posted to you.
I’m just trying to keep my wits about me, this is a very unstable time for America, our emotions are apt to get inflamed, lots of powerful people are reacting...lies, rumors, crap being spread about anyone on the right...

Exactly what you said, and it’s not silly. It was an honor to be ASKED to apply, Otto be told he’d surely be appointed. I’ve seen several guys apply. It does them all a disservice for Carson to repeatedly say he was given a scholarship.
Of course, though the lie was stupid and unnecessary, no one died. Yet nothing hurts Hillary.
