Ben Carson faced some combative reporters during a press conference in Florida tonight about the various issues in his background that have been raised this week.
He dismissed Politico's report about him not being formally offered a West Point scholarship, simply insisting it was relayed to him that he could get one with the kind of accomplishments in his background.
He declared, "There is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me... Next week it'll be my kindergarten teacher who said I peed in my pants."
-snip-
"I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one President Barack Obama."

I never initiated the process. I met with football coach and academic guy at US Merchant Marine Academy in 1968. Like Ben I chose a different path. Regular Army and then engineering school with wife and two beautiful girls in tow. No regrets.:-)0
He sits when he pees.
I don't have personal knowledge, but a number of Freepers have mentioned that as one of the alternate avenues of entrance to the USMA.
:)
How about a little courtesy ping for Ben Carson. Did she give him that respect. I don’t see it.
That too!!! :)
“As you have observed and stated, we have both been through the process. She skipped 2 steps. Deo Vindice.”
I posted the pertinent paragraph of the requirements, a fact that seems to elude both of you. No initial application makes a bit of difference (step 1) if you don’t have a nomination from a Congressman, 2 Senators or the VP (step 2), regardless of your attempts to deflect from this fact by what step I did or didn’t post that wasn’t pertinent to the subject at hand. The nomination process is what it is, regardless of either of your attempts to say otherwise, making you the non-truth tellers, not me.
Good for him, the MSM needs to be bitch-slapped from here to oblivion and back, the liars at Politico twice. Them and their BS, frickin’ hacks.
Not a big Carson supporter but he’s miles and miles ahead of Hillary or that idiot Obama.
Admission to the United States military academies for qualified children of recipients â without nomination and quota requirements.
You would have to dig him up and ask his corpse..
How is it that a chance meeting at a ROTC affair some 50 years ago has been blown so far out of proportion that it is being used to assassinate the character of a good man, and a Republican candidate, by self proclaimed Conservatives?
How in the hell does that happen without alcohol or drugs?
“I figure you will study...right? I mean the issue is of such importance to you.”
Actually, it’s obviously of much more importance to prove just about everyone else that has spoken to this subject is wrong, but you of course. End of discussion. Carson said something really stupid and you feel the need to defend him. Be my guest.
LOL....that’s hilarious. Ben’s a big boy, who is in a tough public arena.
You? You were disrespectful to a fellow FReeper.
I do believe that would an multi star General seek to intermediate for a viable candidate, with a congresscritter or senator, or even a VP, that General could get a sought after candidate a nomination. The political wheels get greased in many ways in Foggy Bottom.

Because it may very well not be true.

Keeping in mind, the time Dr. Carson is talking about was several decades ago....West Point ran national ads for “full scholarships “...
“You think a website is the way it is? âYouâre firedâ Donald needs a kitchen maid.”
You need a dose of the truth. You are now saying that West Point’s own website is lying?
The operative word here is "may".
Ben Carson may well have had that interaction and he may well have been able to get a nomination to WP.
In any case, this whole "story" has a drumhead feel to it. A kangaroo court lynching.
There seems to be a 5th column of trolls these days who viciously attack those who differ from their opinion. Like you, I am not enamored of their ilk.
“Keeping in mind, the time Dr. Carson is talking about was several decades ago....West Point ran national ads for âfull scholarships â...”
At the time Carson says he was given a schoolarship, show me the proof of national ads for “full scholarships”. Prove it.
