An American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lawyer representing a biologically male transgender student in Illinois says that his client should be allowed to shower in the girlsâ locker room because "as a matter of science," he is âa girl through and throughâ.
Although the Palatine-Schaumberg Township High School District 211 allows transgender students to use locker rooms of the gender they identify with, it requires them to use private shower stalls or changing areas so as not to appear naked in the company of the opposite sex.
The student filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Educationâs Office of Civil Rights (OCR), which ordered the school district to provide the transgender teen with full access to the girls' locker room or risk the loss of federal Title IX funding, which bans sex discrimination.
In a statement, the district said that it will âcontinue to provide private accommodations for transgender students to ensure a respectful school environment, and will not allow unrestricted access to its locker rooms as directed by OCR. The goal of the District in this matter is to protect the privacy rights of all students when changing clothes or showering before or after physical education and after-school activities.â
The school districtâs superintendent, Dr. Daniel Cates, told Fox News host Megyn Kelly Tuesday night that he had received complaints from parents and female students who were concerned that their privacy was being violated by having biological members of the opposite sex in the locker room while they were changing.
But in a recent blog post, John Knight, LGBT director for the ACLU of Illinois, argues that Catesâ claim that his client is biologically male is offensive and scientifically inaccurate.
âMost damaging,â he writes, âthe superintendent asserts that a girl who is transgender has a âmale bodyâ and that transgender students are âof the opposite sexâ when defending the Districtâs position.
âSuch assertions are wrong as a matter of science and offensive because they serve to challenge and undermine the very core of a personâs identity. A transgender girl is female. She is a girl through and through â not something in between as the District suggests.
âAnd although unnecessary to make a transgender person âreally femaleâ or âreally male,â many transgender young people, including my client, have undergone medical interventions to conform their body to their gender.â
Absolutely right. Tranny in the toilet should be 2016’s Willie Horton.
I don’t know if these people are more crazy, or more evil.
So, when a baby is born now, are doctors still allowed to inform the parents if it’s a boy or a girl? How will they know?
"A vote for me is a vote for a Fully-Fornicating Society.
"I pledge full funding of my 'Penis Plenty Program.' "
"If you don't want it, the federal govt will take it off your hands."
Maybe a little picky, but words have genders, people and animals have sexes. There’s no way to be a transgender. You can be a transsexual, I suppose, but I guess that word has gone out of political favor.
And his DNA.
Yes, gender is for words and sex is for people and critters. I am saying that there is no such thing as transgender in the way they are using gender, but the same would apply with the proper usage of the word sex.
You say You can be a transsexual,...", since are being "picky", I would have to disagree with that. One can not change their sex. No amount of cross-dressing, hormone therapy or surgery will change your basic gene makeup. A female XX chromosome will always be a female XX chromosome, and and a male XY chromosome will always be a male XY chromosome. If one can not change their sex, they can not be a transsexual.
My only reason for bringing up all this is so say that we are shooting ourselves in the foot by accepting the premise that someone can suddenly change gender by "identifying" themselves as the opposite sex or gender. I think that this is going to cause many MANY problems in society. That the bathroom/locker room/ shower issue. If we as a society say that a man that dresses as a female is still a male, then the lines are still drawn. If we say that the male has "transformed" gender or is a "transgender" then we have bought into the ridiculous foundation of the argument and then have to make new rules and commendations for this new sex or gender. Since there is no transgender, why complicate the issue? Men dressed as women such as Bruce Jenner carry a driver's license that says "Male". He can dress as a woman, he can wear a bra, he can paint his toenails, but he is a man... not a transsexual or a transgender.
