Royals 7 Mets 2 in 12 innings
Certainly comparable, especially Game 7 against Gibson. Thanks. OK, so once every fifty years or so, not to take anything from Baumgartner either. ;-)
The two earned runs from last night were charged to Harvey, the one run from Saturday was unearned, and the one from game one was the only earned run of the series. So one earned run in four innings pitched does translate to a 1.80 ERA. But it's the three blown saves that is the kicker.
We love those guys and wanted to thank them for taking us so far and for giving us such joy!
No riots, no cars set on fire, no muggings, knifings or shootings (other than in the Amish neighborhoods), nada!
When we win, we celebrate, when we lose, we're happy for the ride and love our team anyway!
The Royals were nothing short of awesome. Congrats to their fans (including Rush Limbaugh) as well! :-)
So sorry about your Mets... You may remember that I’m a Red Sox fan, but I was rooting for the Mets in the WS. They will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in 2016. (Not sure about my Sox, though, lol)
Not even die-hard Met fans can say the Mets deserved to with this series. Too many mistakes.
Unless they make major changes I don't think they'll even make the playoffs in 2016. They have no clutch hitting, no bullpen, and their defense is non-existent. This past year they rose farther than their abilities would have dictated.
Glad they won!
Fair enough.
One more comment on the Lolich-Baumgartner comparison. Because of both of those performances, they covered up a lot of deficiencies on their teams and allowed otherwise inferior teams to beat superior teams.
I dug a little deeper, and even though the World Series is a very small sample size, it looks like Familia was better statistically in the World Series than in the regular season by almost every measure except for the blown saves (ERA, hits per innings pitched, etc.). Go figure.
Or it could show that ERA is not a good statistic to evaluate relievers. It is possible for a reliever to blow every save opportunity and still have a 0.00 ERA.
If Familia comes in after the Cain walk, there is decent possibility that the series continues tomorrow night in KC. If Familia gets Hosmer out and the odds would favor him, the ground outs by Moose and Perez end the inning with at most one run scoring.
I think Collins made a mistake by letting himself be talked out of lifting Harvey but he compounded that by leaving him in to pitch to Hosmer.
I agree. The issue with last night’s game is that Familia blew the save even though he did everything you could have asked of a closer in a tight situation. He came in with a runner on second and nobody out. He faced three batters, retired all three of them, and the ball never got out of the infield.
And it's the "except for the blown saves" that's the kicker. Each blown save allowed the Royals to get back into, and eventually win, the game. Now admittedly this is Familia's first full year in the majors and it's a hard position for a rookie to be in. But that's part of the job.
Look. I was born in NYC and live in the burbs. We’re not all like that, just the 66%.
That makes 33% fairly conservative people. Me and my friends here are big on Cruz....not RINOs like Christie or RINO amnesty candidates like Florida’s Rubio.
Most of the people who move from here is to evade reduculous taxes (mostly to the Carolinas). most of the hard core libs have stayed making it worse here.
I plan on moving one day to a rock ribbed conservative state like Oklahoma. Florida is too liberal for me.
Skyrim actually ;)
Mets will be good in the next few years, but alas, the Cubbies will be AEWSOME
I so admire Cubs' fans. . . so full of hope, faith and love.
I was rooting for the Royals, so I’m happy for them and for KC. It was a fun World Series to watch.
LOL!
