We have discussed the potential for MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense Systems) being used against passenger planes, specifically in the North Africa region, aimid these pages for over 4 years.

It is my theory that the Obama Regime was engaged in an illegal activity in Libya. It was about the arming of the Al Qaeda rebels with high tech handheld surface to air missiles to use against the Qaddafi Regime. If these were the FGM-148 Javelin surface-to-air missile, you would have a formidable weapon in the hands of the Al Qaeda. Such weapons could shoot an airline filled with passengers out of the air or take out a strategic target, like St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
It is also may theory that there was a need to take out the Benghazi embassy and make sure those inside would never talk. It was to keep secret this illegal weapons operation by letting these embassy personnel die: J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods. The Obama Regime was willing to use Libyan Al Qaeda Rebels to kill Americans to win an election.
Democrats are going to cover her ass, and Republicans are too stupid or complicit to do anything about it.

Well, many airplane nuts have ADS-B receivers which get the data from the airplane itself.
So, unless that was spoofed, the airplane nuts have the actual data.
According to Wikipedia, the Javelin only goes up to 150 meters. It appears to be an anti-tank and anti low flying helicopter weapon.

Thank you. I was having problems finding the higher altitude MANPADS. The FIM-43 Redeye, made by the United States, has an altitude of 14,000 feet. However, Russian made SA-16 and SA-7 MANPADs have been photographed and videoed being used by the Syrian rebels.
