Russian airliner carrying more than 200 passengers missing on flight over Egypt's Sinai peninsula.....
(Excerpt) Read more at bbc.com ...
We don’t know yet. I checked Haaretz and Debka in Israel.
Its the Sabbath...nothing from them yet.
Update is that Turkey says plane is OK, passing through its airspace.
Sincerely doubtful. Aircraft would have to be flying well under 20,000 feet to be in the danger zone for almost any man portable system, under 10,000 feet for it to be more than a very very lucky incident for the terrorist. There are far easier methods to smuggle something (or someone) aboard a flight to bring it down.
Official confirmation from Egyptian presidents office....the plane crashed...on BBC Radio 2 News at 8am.
Karma
Another thread said it was about that high. It wasn’t near cruising.
224 on board...
Looks like it topped out at 33K feet or so before dropping rapidly off radar: http://www.flightradar24.com/data/airplanes/ei-etj/#7d986d3
Probably had a russkie HVT, shot down with a manpad. Yea Im speculating ...who knows.
Look at Drago’s link - it was at 33 thousand feet. Couldn’t have been manpads.
Debka will probably report that it landed on the Chinese Aircraft carrier that they think is in the Med.
True, but it could have be a bomb I dont trust the muslim turds in egypt.
Latest news is that there was a technical error and pilots asked for emergency landing before the crash.
High value target going to Sharm El Sheik does not make sense anyway. It is where poor people go.
That’s what I’m seeing.
It’s down... a rare accident for Russian aviation.
