THE NINE REPUBLICANS WHO DIDN'T VOTE FOR PAUL RYAN
Vanity | 10/30/2015 | Self

Posted on 10/30/2015 4:02:25 AM PDT by Nextrush

I wanted to post this so everyone who wanted to could see just how bad things are in the Republican Party and in Washington .

As Representative Thomas Massie said last week only five were willing to oppose Boehner on January 6th and yesterday only he and eight others were willing to oppose Paul Ryan.

The nine voted for Daniel Webster of Florida, who actually told his supporters not to vote for him and Webster ended up supporting Ryan. More proof of the phony baloney nature of the "House Freedom Caucus".

The nine are:

Thomas Massie-Kentucky

Dave Brat-Virginia

Louie Gohmert-Texas

Randy Weber-Texas

Paul Gosar-Arizona

Walter B. Jones-North Carolina

Ted Yoho-Florida

Curtis J. Clawson-Florida

Bill Posey-Florida

As for the rest who supported Ryan in the GOP (236). I guess we just have a big pile of excrement to clean up.

Wow. It would appear that my congressman, Steve King, voted for Ryan.

Shameful.

So far, Ryan seems a better sort than Boehner, but what matters most are the plays and formations and the political environment. As Speaker, Ryan will want as long a honeymoon as possible, and after that, he will try to rely on his majority whip and committee chairmen to do most of the heavy lifting and play bad cop when needed.

If Ryan (and we) are lucky, the 2016 elections will deliver a solid Republican President and Congress. If that occurs, Ryan will have an abundance of favors he can deliver and a diminished need of punishments. A burst of GOP reforms passing Congress and a successful GOP President will do much to aid Ryan and to help the Party recover its confidence and to build on success.

As it is, one of the reasons for the Congressional GOP's defeatist attitude is that immigration and demographic trends are strongly adverse to the GOP and seem poised to put it on the path to minority status and the country under rule by the Left -- permanently. Against such a future, most GOP House and Senate members have been hedging their bets and aiming to protect their reelection chances and any employment plans.

Trump's candidacy may change that, especially if he wins and is able to shut down the wave of immigration that threatens to destroy the country. With that at stake, most everything else is secondary.

Could but won’t unless its another staged event like this one that ‘forced Boehner out’ and put Ryan in.

Pretty much, if the plumb line is principle.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, on some things he’s been a stalwart. But not on everything.

Called one of Randy Weber’s local offices. They were SOOOOO glad to hear someone call to say thank you for voting no. Gal who works for him said it was so nice to go out to dinner with a “boss” who prays out loud before they eat. Told Brenda, his beautiful wife, that prayers are up for him.
