Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's strong stance on illegal immigration has already drawn serious backlash from the restaurant industry, and celebrity chefs José Andrés and Geoffrey Zakarian have pulled restaurants from Trump's new Washington, D.C., hotel. Now ex-cook and current world-traveling TV host Anthony Bourdain is getting into the mix. Bourdain made an appearance on SiriusXM's StandUP With Pete Dominick and defended America's undocumented workers.
I grew up in the restaurant business â 30 years in the restaurant business. I came out of, like a lot of other white kids, I rolled out of a prestigious culinary institute and went to work in real restaurants. I walked into restaurants and always, the person who had been there the longest, who took the time to show me how it was done, was always Mexican or Central American. The backbone of the industry - meaning most of the people in my experience cooking, preparing your food. Twenty of those years in this business I was an employer, I was a manager employer. Never, in any of those years, not once, did anyone walk into my restaurant â any American-born kid â walk into my restaurant and say I'd like a job as a night porter or a dishwasher. Even a prep cook â few and far between. Just not willing to start at the bottom like that. Bourdain went on to say that if Trump were to win the presidency and deport 11 million illegal immigrants, "every restaurant in America would shut down," and restaurant owners share his sentiment because "they'd be up the creek. ... It is really, really getting hard to find people to do the jobs." It's not the first time Bourdain has commented on Trump. He previously said The Donald "offends me" and the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City is "the enemy of the human spirit." Bourdain hasn't given his coveted endorsement for the 2016 election, but he threw his support behind Barack Obama in 2012 and 2008.
I always make sure to check with a drug-addled, brain-dead, petulant, disconnected-from-reality, washed up poser for political commentary.
Anthony Bourdain did a segment once for his “No Reservations” show where he interviewed Ted Nugent at Ted’s compound. Probably the best show he has done. After stating to his audience that he and Ted were opposites politically, he did seem to enjoy firing a few clips of one of Nug’s automatic rifles.
And you just assumed that that person was here illegally?
What a racist.
LOL, living in the shadows? Have none of these stupid liberals ever been to a hardware store or construction site or seen landscapers at 7 am?
Shawdos my ass.
But shares in his public company have fallen more than HP shares. While trump has gotten rich (although not as rich as he says), a lot of people have lost a lot of money investing with or working for him. Whoops.
Anthony...
In New York and Chicago we got a saying...
Eat Dis!!
Capice?...
Screw him. Hire some Americans you low life bottom feeder.
What a total jerk. He rolled out of a prestigious school, so he assumed no other American citizens are poor and need jobs? What’s wrong with black Americans you racist low life?
I am so sick of BS thinking and talking by a bunch of criminals.
Some former heroin addict that now fashions himself as the Hunter S Thompson of food reporting. He’s a worthless POS.
Trump is CEO of a Privately held company. You have no clue what Trump is really worth, since his assets are in real-estate. A building is not same as a stock or bond, whose price is published every day.
Guy was/is a heroin addict.
The Former Druggie, but I think his show is entertaining.
Does the a fore mentioned useful idiot's, defend / support America's undocumented Bank Withdrawal{ee's}.
I could go on & on, but Talking / Arguing to/with liberals is like having to mud-wrestle a pig. You are all muddy and dirty before you realize the pig is enjoying the exercise.
Illegal is I-L-L-E-G-A-L. I don’t give a rat’s tail of how hard working, or dedicated, or length of time here, whatever superlative the amnesty jerk-offs want to spin ...
These interlopers VIOLATED our borders and our laws! PERIOD!
Put Mexico’s immigration laws next to those of the United States, and then come tell us about how unfair Donald Trump is!
These uppity little culinary faggots can go screw a chicken, for all I care. Trump is right - legally AND morally.
When I was 15, I was cleaning the toilets, washing kitchen floors, cleaning and restocking the bars, and doing the function set ups for a midsize hotel-lounge-restaurant ... I earned $5.00 / hour ... I had to clean up puke, crap, and bloodied tampons (I soon discovered that the women are more of a pig in bathrooms than are the men)
It was a job - and I earned every dollar of my paycheck. The only “benefit” was we could get a “free meal” during lunch break ... And all the leftover pastry you could eat in those function rooms!
Anthony Bourdain is a recovering coke and heroin addict who wrote an excellent book called KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL. He has been lionized by the mainstream media ever since, and has a heavily produced show on CNN. Many political points from talking about the line cooks and dishwashers in his kitchens. I’d like to know how many illegals he works with at his publisher’s or on the set at CNN.
trump’s premier properties in Atlantic City all went bust to the point where creditors took complete control (after bond holders, investors, and contractors lost billions ). Now, trump mostly rents out his name, so he gets paid whether businesses licensing his name make money or not. And many don’t.
Thus, his investors often get left holding the bag while makes money.
Nice work if you can get it.
Based on his financial disclosures to the FEC (which are filed under penalty of perjury if knowingly incomplete), Forbes’ estimate of his wealth is $2 - 4 billion. Which is a really big amount of money.
But not $10 billion
The discrepancy is not in valuing his real estate or other tangible assets, but in trump’s ridiculous valuing of his name, a most ephemeral asset.
Kinda ironic when he disses other (far richer) tycoons for the nature of their wealth.
ILLEGAL immigrants knuckle draggier...
Illegal alien. Referring to them as immigrants is not accurate.
we should have picked our own cotton, and we should wash our own dishes.
