Despite several years of Michael Bloomberg and others spending hundreds of millions of dollars attacking the NRA, a new Gallup poll shows that non-gun owners have a favorable opinion of the NRA (by 7 percentage points). Moderates are even 17 percentage points more likely to have a favorable opinion.
Overall, the NRA has a significantly more favorable image than either President Obama or Hillary Clinton.
Yet, according to Adam Winkler in The Washington Post, the NRA will inevitably decline in power.
The claim is a simple one: Gun ownership is greatest among rural whites, a group whose voting power is diminishing.
The theory isn't new. Tom Smith, director of the General Social Survey, told me in 1997 that the large drop in gun ownership shown by his poll would “make it easier for politicians to do the right thing on guns.†According to Smith's survey, the percentage of homes with a gun has fallen fairly continuously since the 1970s — from approximately 50 percent to 32 percent earlier this year.

Anyone that answers a survey on if guns are in your house is a fool to say yes. Did they take that into consideration?
Is there a source for “running down” numbers to define a mass shooting? Fewer folks have land lines so fewer people for pollsters to talk to.
My brother didn’t want an AR or AK until Sandy Hook then decided he must have an AR. I tried to tell him now is not the time to buy but to no avail. He kept asking me to get him a good deal. Well hell there were none to be had in that time frame. He ended up buying an AR for $1300. Now they are going for $600-$800 range in my neck of the woods. Strangely AK prices have dropped some but not like AR prices.
I personally prefer the AK myself, I think it fires a better round and is a sturdy, reliable platform. If I want to shoot something at 600 yards I will use my scoped hunting rifle. I have suggested he consider a high capacity handgun but again he won’t hear of parting with a dollar. When they want to ban those he will want a Glock 17 for $400...
Is there any correlation between “mass shootings†and White House occupants? Seems to me there’s been a drastic increase since January 2009. Could be me though.

After seeing the ferals riot in Ferguson and Baltimore and watching what’s going on in Europe I bet there are at least 100 million that would be willing to die before they turned their guns over. If they start trying the gun owners will start organizing and that would be largest army ever seen in the history of the world.
Why would it be lies? The increase from the previous administration to the current administration cannot be denied. What is the failure of the data?
AR-15 pattern rifles are cheap and good. Bear Creek Arsenal has a good sale for Halloween. I build custom rifles/pistols form Bear Creek and Anderson Rifles parts. Great customer service at both places. You'll have to transfer to a local FFL if you purchase a complete rifle.

The time to start organizing is beforehand. Informally, at least. Feel out relatives and friends, people you can trust to not run their mouths.

House? Tell them you are a landscaper and you live in your truck. But you have a flame thrower and some machetes in back ... where the other guys ride.

Better still, buy an AR “kit” (RRA has an excellent one) and an 80% lower and build yourself a weapon that’s off the books. Remember, they can’t confiscate something about which they know nothing.

Bundy standoff. They don’t have the testicular fortitude to try for it. They don’t have the numbers to survive the attrition if they do.
Good point. They have been making this argument that cranky old white guys will die out (and the sooner the better, they suggest) and then they will be able to transform all of America into Chicagoland.
The M14 is old technology but you can find several AR-15 platforms in 7.62mm. You might want to consider 6.8mm like the Stag Model 7.

The other side of that argument offers a dark and very concerning scenario; one that may be a cold reality.
There are anti-gun, anti-Americans hard at work at political and legal levels to effectively eliminate private gun ownership.
The express statement in the Constitution that the pre-existing right to bear arms is not to be infringed, inclusion of which provision was thought to be absolutely essential to the passage of that compact, presently appears to turn on one USSC vote.
At the same time, we have a liberal education system that suspends school children from talking about or even scribbling pictures of "icky" handguns and rifles. A large number of college students believe socialist and presidential candidate Sanders offers a sensible message, while many of the rest believe candidate Clinton is the answer.
When it is deemed time to confiscate firearms, the government first will simply check its data base and freeze the assets of those who do not deliver their weapons to the designated locations. The USSC will find the enabling statute(s) provide suitable "due process" for such measures. If further action is deemed necessary, rather than the U.S. Military, a very well-armed and brown-shirted agency of the Executive Branch will be employed.
Will that leave an armed community sufficient to restore the right within the lifetime of your family?
We NEVER will.
Count on it.

I don’t know. maybe not.
But there will certainly still be millions of American citizens capable, ready, willing, and able to “take out” any agents or goons of the dictatorship seeking to further deprive them of their constitutional rights, that’s for sure
(assets or no assets... regulations and bureaucrats do not stand up very well to American citizens’ fire power....)
ps: I won’t be around to see it happen, anyway, so this only reflects the views of younger, healthier folks of my acquaintence who will be here to deal with the problem....)

That’s why you have neighbors, relatives and nearby acquaintances.
Go to the White House. Aside from the guards, there won’t be any weapons. But they provide weapons for any number of critters from drug lords to despotic regimes. No one can find them but they can use them.
