GOP Debate Venue Will Be 90% Empty - Wouldn't want the TV audience hearing Trump cheers!
NPR ^ | OCTOBER 27, 2015 | RACHEL ESTABROOK

Posted on 10/28/2015 8:55:23 AM PDT by 20yearsofinternet

While millions will watch the third Republican presidential debate on TV, just 1,000 people will get tickets to see the event in person in the massive Coors Events Center on the scenic University of Colorado campus in Boulder.

CNBC, the cable network sponsoring the debate, didn't respond to questions about why the 11,000-seat arena would remain mostly empty.

"The way it was explained to us by CNBC is the event is meant for a TV audience, not so much for a live audience," said Ryan Lynch, the executive director of the Colorado Republican Party, which will get 200 tickets to split among party donors and elected officials.

I’m just an impatient FReeper, tired of the fanboi idol worship of this loud-mouthed, thin- skinned, vitriolic reality TV star.

Funny, you don't seem to have any problem mentally masturbating in public. Your description is pure adolescent fantasy.

Reading both your comments brought a smile to my face. Thanks.

The GOPe, DNC, Leftists, the television news crews, the show hosts, the talking heads, the pundits, the Newspaper editorial and commentary sections, and almost the complete blogosphere (even sites we used to think of as fairly conservative), have all jumped in to trash Trump.

Even certain Republicans have been more than happy to jump into that can of soup, to sink with the others. And they think of themselves as Conservatives.

You’re reactions to this are to buy into the belief Trump supporters are almost paranoiac in their grasp of what is going on.

Trump is hawking Reagan’s ideas to the nation. “Conservatives” of course object. LOL. You two think that is true.

Conservatives would not object to Trump doing this. They would cheer him on. Look at you two, and you think we’re paranoiac?

Yes, call the waambulance. Trouble is, we’ll be standing there waving good-bye when they cart you two off.

When you two start reducing support for Trump to little tantrums including references to the FanBoi mem, I am reminded of the last Conservative to get massive support across demographic lines.

He was doing what Trump is now. So if Trump’s supporters are only FanBois, I guess Reagan’s supporters were FanBois as well.

I proudly wear that label. I was a Reagan FanBoi. I am now a Trump FanBoi.

I will never be a fellow traveler FanBoi of these entities:

Sadly, you two are.

This venue will take masterful manipulation to avoid being perceived as creepy.
Only the Mainstream Republicans could make a bad deal like this.
‘Unfair’ is Trump’s warning that he may go third party.

That is just weird. Of course you can limit the nut bags if you don’t let so many people in I guess.

No comparison between Trump and Reagan. None. Nada. If you can’t see that is your business

To Donald Trump’s right will be Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee and John Kasich,
in that order. To Ben Carson’s left will be Carly Fiorina, Ted Cruz, Chris Christie
and Rand Paul, in that order. For candidates whose national poll averages were tied,
podium positions were selected by a drawing.

Reagan didn't want to rebuild the military?

Reagan's policy wasn't to have the strongest military on the planet?

Reagan wasn't an advocate of smaller government?

Reagan wasn't an advocate of getting government spending under control?

Don't let your dislike of Trump's demeanor blind you to what he is advocating.

And many of those positions will change next week
Trump praised the stimulus.
Trump praised the Canadian and Scottish healthcare systems and supports single payer.
Trump backed Hillary for Senate.
Trump called Obama a great leader who knows what he wants

Reagan warned about government run healthcare
Reagan supported Goldwater in his presidential run
Reagan spent years building the conservative movement behind him
Don’t let your love of his demeanor blind you to what he has advocated

I could go on and on but that would be too easy and you’ll have an excuse for everything I list regarding Trump, anyways

Why isn’t it obvious that Trump is playing you? He’s a showman, he’s a salesman, he’s and actor. The stuff he’s saying now to tickle conservatives’ ears is new, a ploy, a game for higher ratings. And so many are falling for this showman’s show.

Unreal that you’re comparing wildman Trump to statesman Reagan. Unreal.

Yes, the bombastic and thin-skinned showman Trump is saying a lot of good things. I agree that Trump 2015 sounds really good. He sure can whip up a crowd. I understand why his words this year are getting him high ratings.

It is astounding that so many are falling for his act.

I think it’s a result of our side wanting a fighter. We’re all sick and tired of watching the GOP becoming aligned more with the left than not just conservatives but the nation. I get all that. But the reality is Trump is more comfortable being a Northeast liberal than a Reagan Conservative. But, he is good. He senses the bad mood of the country and he saw his chance for an opportunity to boost his ego. Sadly, too many haven’t caught on that this is part of his act.

To what end? So he can get into office and dramatically reveal he's really Dr. Evil?

Get a grip. Every one of your complaints about Trump are either wildly tendentious, irrelevant, or narcissistically subjective.

Hell, I’M falling for The Donald’s act. Best game in town, if you are playing it for the excitement.

Thing is, a LOT of people have been awakened by The Donald’s entry into the Presidential race as a major-party candidate, and it was clear from the very beginning he was never going to be allowed to show up at any Democrat Konklave (the reference to the KKK is intentional), much less ever gain any traction in their primary race.

2000: Trump enters the presidential race as a Reform Party candidate and receives more than 15,000 votes in the party’s California primary.

2003-2004: Trump again mulls a run for president, but ultimately decides not to join the race, concentrating instead on the reality show “The Apprentice” on NBC.

March 2011: A Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows Trump leading all presidential contenders, including Mitt Romney. By February 2012, Trump endorses Republican candidate Mitt Romney for president.

So the thought of running for President has been on The Donald’s mind a long time now. He has seen the mistakes others have made, and he now has a strategy to seeking and winning the big prize.

“... wildly tendentious, irrelevant, or narcissistically subjective.”

Nice words. Inaccurate, but impressive vocabulary.

No, my observations about Trump are just that: observations. He has a track record of low-brow attacks against those with whom he has disagreements, and doesn’t have much of a track record to support the seemingly conservative speeches he’s been giving this year.
