The planning stages for TCMS XI are in the works. At this point the plan is to hold the event in October 2016. (Yes, I know that is a looonnnggg way away!) The range we are considering is Hiciksville Range, in Gatesville. The closest lodging we could find is in Whitney.
We have already had one recon trip, which was not very productive due to heavy rains. The entire recon crew checked out one of the places we are considering staying. The majority of us fell in love with the place, even though it was a gloomy weekend. It made for some fun joking about being the perfect place to film a horror movie, especially with the creepy & trashy road to the resort. We all agreed that the pavilion was awesome; it is big enough to hold all of us without bumping into each other.
NYTexan & BuckeyeTexan checked out the other place. I liked it from looking at their website, but was not impressed with the pictures that Buckeye sent me. She & I are going to do another recon so that I can see it in person. There is also one more location we will look at. The one negative for both of those places is the size of their pavilions ~ we need lots of room to move & mingle.
Next week Eaker, humblegunner and I are going to Hicksville Range for a look see and discuss pricing.

That is what I was wondering since we will be driving to the location. I will call to get info from them.
Missed the one in CC. P-inlaw had to go back to Houston for surgery and wife was up there with him.

You need a new vehicle. Go to the dealership and tell them you need an F150 with the “Houston Package” that way it comes with deployable pontoons and a 50 horse Evinrude outboard.
LOL! My brother who lives there would agree! It would also have to include a step ladder.
But i just hope that the rain doesn’t fall on our weekend! Hard to shoot in the rain!

To reserve one of these rooms, you only need to make a deposit for the first night. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to check in date.
2 Queens walk into a bar.. the bartender asks "What'll you have?"

I have a question. What if we don’t book one of these and still come. Is that ok?
This post is for those that have never attended one of the shoots.
You don't have to book a room/cottage at whatever resort we have reserved. Several years ago I, finally, figured out that it was easier to eat, drink and mingle if we all stayed at the same place.
If you want to stay somewhere else, of course, you are welcome to join the festivities! A few of us show up on Thursday and go out to dinner. Friday and Saturday night we gather together for 'home cooked' dinners.
If a person only wants to go to the range, that is also cool. The day of the shoot starts around 10:00, we shoot for about three hours then have a delicious lunch provided by cpdiii.
I shouldn’t be on the ping list any more.

Keep in mind that the TCMS is not about FR ~ it is to honor the memory of TexasCowboy, aka COB, aka El Roy Ray.
