Free Republic on Google's Black List?!!

When I went to post a comment I was redirected to a presumed Firefox warning page that Free Republic was a reported malware/phishing site. The below second warning message indicates that Google's blacklist was invoked. I don't know if this is a malware warning generated on my computer or a real issue that Free Republic should be quickly investigating. I'll post the link here for investigative purposes, DO NOT click on this link.

I just searched Google on: lion cubs “free republic” (because “lions” seems to be involved in this) and every result says something like this site may harm your computer, and clicking on a link brings up the warning.

So are “lion cubs” somehow a “keyword” for this virus/hoax or whatever is going on?

It’s not an access problem, it’s a forum posting problem and seems to be directed at Firefox users or any browser that subscribes to Google’s black list. Free Republic was described as a potential phishing or malware attack site.

I’m getting the same warning from both Firefox and my Trend Micro AV software. The Trend Micro warning says FR is a confirmed “malicious URL”.

I also had the "badware" page pop up. I use Firefox on Windows along with EsetNOD and Malwarebytes. I chose the "ignore" link

How do I know it's not Google Chrome that has been hacked and if I hit "Back to Safety" I'm screwed?

I don't get it on every thread, and then only when I try to reply?
