Pollsters: Win over Vitter still tough path

BY MARK BALLARD| MBALLARD@THEADVOCATE.COM Oct. 26, 2015; 7:59 p.m.

State Rep. John Bel Edwards’ surprise showing in Saturday’s election gave hope to many that the Democratic Party could elect one of its own to a statewide office for the first time since 2008.

Edwards was expected to make the Nov. 21 runoff. What surprised many political professionals was that he polled 40 percent of the vote and outpaced Republican candidates in every region of the state in a low-turnout election.

He please help promote Vitter for Louisiana Governor.

Edwards is a hard core liberal democrat.

Just a few weeks until the election.

“State Rep. John Bel Edwards’ surprise showing in Saturday’s election”

It was not really a surprise showing; he consolidated the democrat vote, whereas the Republicans candidates split the Republican vote.

It’s not a sure bet Vitter will win either. He’s in this pickle solely because of his own actions.

How does that compare with recent governor elections?

Can the Dem operative at the Advocate do simple Math?
These lies spun by the Dem media is insulting.
As usual, it was 3 Gop and 1 Dem in a LA election.
the Gop split 60 % of the total vote and the Dem got 40%
just like the Mary Landrieu election results.
So the runoff has one Gop option now which would get 60 % vs One Dem with 40 % just like the last election !
Does the Lying reporter think the 60 % of the Gop voters will vote Dem and crooked Edwards family member ? All these lies and spin are to depress and suppress the Gop voters .Nothing more .

Jindal was elected with about a 45% turnout four years ago.

Perhaps so.

But then simple math also says that the State is 50% registered D’s and only 25% registered R’s.

The key is heal the the rift between the three Republican factionS and consolidating them behind Vitter.

Because one simple option is that just th Vitter and the Edwards vote in the runoff.

You have to keep in mind that Louisiana Dems are easily the most self-deluded in the nation. They lie to themselves as easily as they lie to others.

Perhaps so. But it does not pay to be complacent.

Blanco beat Jindal in ‘03 with 51.95% of the vote.

Suffice to say, Jindal won the next two!

However, the media has been ruthlessly beating up Jindal past year.

They also jumped on Scalice.

And Vitter also recently.

Voter turnout was surpressed by torential rains over the western half of the state. Bottom line, republicans 60%, democrats 40%. Republicans big problem is that Vitter is a poor candidate, both personally and politically, plus people are as sick of Jindal as national republicans are sick of Bushes and that rubs off on Vitter.

The news idiots have forgotten that the rains of what was Hurricane Patricia came through this weekend, making it a certainty that LESS voters would turn out than the already expected less than average turnout.

The news idiots forgot to mention that a majority of offices up for election, were the incumbents running against themselves, only.

The news idiots forgot to report that state constitutional amendments were up for a vote.
