The father of the 25-year-old Stillwater woman accused of plowing her car into a homecoming parade crowd Saturday morning in Stillwater told The Oklahoman by telephone that he first found out about the accident through social media.
Everyone across the country is talking about it, said an emotional Floyd Chambers, 47, of Oologah, who said he couldnt believe that his daughter could have done something like this.
I cant figure this out. This is not the person thats my daughter ... I cant imagine alcohol being involved. She is not an alcoholic that Im aware of, he said.
This is just not who she is. Theyre going to paint her into a horrible person but this is not (her).
He described his daughter as timid. He said she was at Oklahoma State University homecoming festivities the night before with family, but was told by his daughters boyfriend that she was home by 10 p.m.
He confirmed that his daughter lives in Stillwater with her boyfriend.
The father became emotional when speaking about the victims.
Were going to pray for those who have lost loved ones, the father said as he began to cry.
And my heart goes out to those people and all of them who are injured. Its just a bad thing. I know this isnt something that she would have done deliberately I know that shes not that person.
That's how I look at it. So sad, not only for the families of the hurt and dead but for her. Her life is over. When she sobers up, she's going to realize what that horrible mistake one day did to ruin her life. And now they're saying the latest death was a 2 year old.
Wow. Thank you for the specifics. That’s horrifying.
I agree with you, jocon. If anything, she looks sleepy.
Could she have fallen asleep? She was certainly able to walk between the officers who had a very light hand on her.
Oh, dude. I know it's not right to laugh here at this, but I would laugh out loud at your comment if it were appropriate! Good catch!
When i finally cleaned up in 2001 i was .37 two days after my last drink and walked into the ER with my sister I was “sober “ even had to give my sister turn by turn directions to the hospital
A full tummy after dinner hardly makes us feel like mowing a crowd down. Maybe something physiological did happen to her.
Her booking photo is not one of a drunk. And her other FB photos are nice photos of any nice WASP. She looks sweet.
There has to more to this than meets the eye. Don’t you think?
We had something similar in our town.
Some guy mowed down people at a bus stop.
Not arrested, not charged AFAIK.
I always thought he must have known people or something.
Local news says 4th victim has died. 2 year old died at Children’s Hospital in OKC.
Yes. She either passed out in that car last night, woke up drunk or someone brought her back to her car this am while she was still drunk. It was too early for red lobster to be open. Or if it was, not enough time for her to get that drunk.
Sure looks that way.
Bump
Not really, but (in the absence of other information) it’s not 100% outside the realm of possibility.
I agree. I was in a collision several years ago in which a man pulled out of oncoming traffic on a 2-lane road and drove straight into me, didn’t even brake. He was pretty stuned in the ambulance; it was probably a mini-stroke or a diabetic symptom.
In the big picture, I’m glad he hit my 15-passenger van and not the compact car behind me. They’d have all died. I had a banged up knee and foot and a couple days of headaches, but my son and daughter further back were unmarked.
She killed a 2 year old...she’s going to wind up on suicide watch.
Glad you weren’t hurt seriously and you kids were okay.
I appreciate your thoughts on this, because it’s easy to get worked sometimes and there are times when that isn’t called for.
This is such a sad event. I hope she wasn’t drunk, and it was something unavoidable.
Oh how awful for everyone. Please know prayers are coming your way, that your families and friends may be comforted with strength to bear ..
The knee still bugs me sometimes, but I’ve had some falls since than and whacked it again. I’ll probably have to get it replaced in my 70s ;-).
About this crash, we just don’t know. Could be alcohol, drugs, a seizure, even a wasp in the car with her. It’s awful for everyone including her family.
Well sorry you’re still having some problems there.
Some of my older family members have had the knee replacements and they’ve been happy with them.
I am in full agreement with your comments.
Thanks for making those points.
