On Tuesdays New Day on CNN, Republican presidential front-runner defended his response aimed at his GOP opponent former Gov. Jeb Bush (R-FL), who had claimed in a debate earlier this month that the country was kept safe under former President George W. Bush.

I’m sure he’ll have a lot to say to Hillary when he gets the nomination because her husband was horrible on the subject of homeland protection
.. right now Trump was tired of hearing Yebbie tying himself to George W. on the protection of the country issue by continuing to say he kept us safe during his Presidency and EVERYONE thinking wait a minute didn’t 911 happen on his watch?.. I sure thought that and anyone who is honest thought it too..
there is just so much you can take of the “Bush was the role model” on protecting the country” thing.. they were pretty slack BEFORE 911 with all those dire warnings and I have always thought that.. after 911 Bush was the man but so would have been most Presidents.. Americans demanded it.. but before 911 they didn’t step up anything like they should have,, at least send some agents to follow up on where the young muslim men were who were here on recent visas,, if they had done just that we probably prevent 911
that’s pretty much a no brainer to me trying not to play Monday morning quarterback
And now when he attacks Clinton on 9/11 he won’t look so partisan, because he also attacked Bush. That will gain traction among Independents, and even some Democrats, than if all of his criticism was aimed towards the Clintons.
Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
“There are millions of immigrants in this country and the government has no idea where they are or what theyre up to.”
By contrast, there are hundreds of millions of American citizens in this country and the government watches every movement, listens to every phone call, reads every email; every stroke on the keyboard, noses into every back/brokerage account, not to mention some mighty uncomfortable moments at the airports.
I am starting to see what Trump is really doing. There is a potential for a seismic shift in American politics. The coalition of support he is building will be unstoppable. Reagan had that going, too, but Bush I and Clinton dismantled it. Reagan had to allow and establishment guy on the ticket and that proved to be the undoing of his legacy. “Read my lips”.
Trump will not play by the establishment’s rules and if he does what it is looking like he is going to do there will be a realignment of biblical proportions.
It starts with destroying the establishment and their chosen standard-bearer.
Go Trump.
“This is not a controversial statement. A mildly well informed person knew this was going to happen...”
BS... nobody was expecting an attack like 9/11. Al Qaeda up to that point were the gang who couldn’t shoot straight. They bungled several attacks and the only successful ones they pulled off were in foreign countries, and they got pretty lucky on those too.
Everyone was shocked that morning at what happened, and to try to say otherwise tells me you are either too young to remember, or you are willing to say absolutely anything to defend Trump.
Perhaps Mr. Trump should inquire about the 28 pages of the 911 Report that is being with held from the public.
If I wanted to do that, I’d just vote for the cackling shrew, Nick.
And that is exactly what Rush said yesterday, Nick. That all this 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch is specifically to exonerate Hillary.
Yet just a few minutes ago, he said that all this 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch is to attack Jeb, and W is just collateral.
So he really doesn’t seem to be able to make up his mind what its all for.
As far as I know Rush isn’t full throttle support of anyone. He certainly hasn’t announced any support of any candidate that I know of.
I tend to think that Trump is just speaking his mind like he always does, and people’s heads are exploding as a result like they always do.
I hope it smashes it into bits and pieces.
Jeb - He kept us safe." No, Bro didn't do before 9/11 Yeby.
Here you go from the CNN debate:
TRUMP: Your brother and your brothers administration gave us Barack Obama, because it was such a disaster, those last three months, that Abraham Lincoln couldnt have been elected.
BUSH: You know what? As it relates to my brother, theres one thing I know for sure. He kept us safe. I dont know if you remember "
Like Yeb! said, "you know what?"! ...
Yeb! - "I don't know if you remember?"
Idiot Yeb! no don't know for sure and Trump did remember. LoL.
Well, then Rush was only partly right. It was also to exonerate.
If Trump needs this to attack Jeb he's stupid. I don't support Jeb, but not because what his brother did in 2001. There are plenty of real, legitimate ways to attack Jeb.
Plus, if Trump is around 32%, why does he have to attack a candidate at 5% or less. That would be stupid right? But Trump is riddled with insecurity.
I don't buy that this is an attack on Jeb, because he doesn't need to attack Jeb, and it's not even a worthwhile attack on Jeb.
It was all about Bill and Hill.
I was watching the TV the morning of the attack and remember when the second plane hit, the reporter (I think it was Fox News) said something like, "There goes another one. Now there is no doubt, its terrorism...maybe Osama bin Laden".
Yep....in a way we ALL knew something was coming but with no actionable intelligence. If Bush tried to implement beforehand what he did afterward (Homeland Security, TSA, NSA etc.) he would have been impeached as a fear mongering, paranoiac dictator.
It was going to happen to someone, it just happened to be Bush.
I hope that is what Trump is saying.
Screw Jeb. But I don't agree with Trump's Code Pink/Daily Kos rantings either.
Is the sarcasm tag implied?
“I don’t buy that this is an attack on Jeb, because he doesn’t need to attack Jeb, and it’s not even a worthwhile attack on Jeb.”
He’s eviscerating Bush III with it. The dynasty must end.
GW hits back hard at Ted Cruz who did nothing. Scared of Trump.
Yes, it’s what the truthers say.
Not only that, but you get aluminum and iron oxide (rust), and you make thermite. Now, do you think there might have been some rust on the girders and beams in those buildings?
Of all the reasons people will not vote for Jeb, his brother causing 9/11 is not the reason for any of them. There are so many worthwhile reasons not to vote for Jeb. In fact, if Trump was using this reach, he'd probably be helping Jeb.
But why would Trump need to attack Jeb and his 5% anyway? Because he is such an insecure person?
This attack on George W. Bush did nothing to hurt Jeb, it just helped Bill and Hillary.
And Code Pink and the Daily Kos.
Of course not but it was Jeb as I noted said his Bro W successfully defended the United States when he did not do so in the beginning.
The only reason to do what he did was to absolve Clinton. So, basically, you think Clinton had no responsibility for 9/11?
Absolute BS.
