"As you will note, after Mr. McDowell points out that he and the McDonalds people have some sort of misunderstanding, he goes on to note the following differences":
* Theyre McDonalds Im McDowells.
* They have the Golden Arches I have the Golden Arcs.
* They got the Big Mac I have the big Mic.
* My buns dont have sesame seeds on them.
Having some knowledge of McDonalds, I believe Rush is wrong, and the problem is how it is being run. It’s a “damaged brand” in that it’s become a joke, workplace-wise, and that affects all of its workers, from corporate on down.
I haven’t eaten McDonald’s for other than breakfast for over 20 years. I have a friend who actually gets an allergic reaction to McDonald’s.
They embraced lowest common denominator clientele and degraded their product quality to the breaking point. So did WalMart, and both are suffering accordingly.
McDonald’s needs to do three things to reverse the trend.
1. Eatable food - Sad that they cant figure this one out.
2. Service - It sucks and gets worse every year
3. Kill off half the bloated menu and go back to selling what you are. You are a burger joint-not a health food store.
I can’t find a Business Insider article with Rush’s purported headline; in fact, can’t find any article at all of that nature at businessinsider.com
The information came from yahoo, and the supposed headline is simply a quote from a survey form:

This is news to me. I think they’ll be fine.
They need better ads though, their ad for the (good idea) of all day breakfast makes me want to slit my wrists. #bleedtodeath
There was one in Glendale, CA in 1952 that we used to stop at after the drag races when we were short of money, the burgers were 13 cents or a dollar dozen.
If we weren’t broke we went to Bobs down the street for a real hamburger!!!!
There’s Mickey D’s right next to an In N Out Burger in Napa, CA. There’s always a line at IOB, right up till closing time at 1 a.m., but Mickey D’s is mostly a ghost town. IOB burgers are cooked to order and they are tasty! I’d rather go hungry than eat at a McDonald’s. Their food is just crap!
They are quite busy in Nashville area
I boycott McDonald’s because Ronald McDonald House (and affiliates) contribute to Planned Parenthood.
“Ronald McDonald House: has worked with and/or funded Planned Parenthood (includes affiliates)”

I wonder how many other prolifers do the same?
Actually, I don’t want businesses that I boycott to go out of business, but I do want them to feel it enough to reconsider and not contribute to PP.
Say what you like about McD’s but their sausage, egg and cheese biscuits really hit the spot right about this time of day.
Burger King and Hardee’s/Carls’s Jr. also have a great breakfast lineup.
Way I see it, folks have been predicting McD’s demise since around 1960 and will still be predicting its demise in another ten to twenty years from now. Like with all the “end times” predictions, they will eventually be right.
Lunch circa 1970...one regular burger, three regular fries (back when they were tasty), and CHANGE from my dollar.
Ok...I know this is nitpicky but what bugs me right now and this is not only limited to McDonalds is the use of video screens for the menu. You’re looking and trying to decide and suddenly the menu goes poof and there is now a promo ad for a certain item, contest or whatever and you have to wait for the menu to return while the various screens scroll through. It’s just another frustration in a less than ideal dining experience.
The food is crap.
I knew McD was going down when they stopped doing their fries with tallow. After that, they smelled different and tasted very different.
Thumbs down!
Can’t believe it! First 100 posts and no mention of Steak & Shake.
I don’t go there hardly ever now. There are perhaps 6-10 other companies that sell burgers at about the same price and with a much better experience.
Pure and simple, McD’s is dying because its food is low quality and its service is horrible.
McD’s isn’t going to go out of business, that’s bluster and headline grabbing to sell papers, go by any McD’s at lunch time or in the prework hours and watch how many people go through the place in an hour, its not in any risk of going fully out of business.
However McD’s has a huge problem with its service, on average, across its franchise chain... and what the hell it wants to be.
Personally I think the McCafe concept that they have been pushing across their restaurants for the past 5 or 10 years is a joke, and largely a waste of money. I think urban restaurants in city centers might gain from such a move, but your typical free standing store in small town america this gained them nothing, and probably alienated a customer base. If I am taking my kids out to a fast service dinner, I don’t want to be in a coffee shop, I want a booth that I can contain them in, and maybe a playarea they can play in.... I don’t want to sit at goofy arranged seating and Bar Top tables etc.
Their Menu is everywhere.... You’re a burger shop, stop trying to be everything to everyone... I Know you have a price point that keeps you from stepping up too far out of your zone to work, but make the best burger you can in that point.
Service, this is where McD’s falls down the hardest... service at some stores can be fabulous, but at most its an afterthought. Go study Chick-Fil-A and get your employees to understand at least the basics of service... I know its teenagers working there, but there are teenagers working at Chick-Fil-A too.
The last time I went I had to beg for some salt. No salt shakers on the table and none of those little salt packets at the drink dispensing/refill station.
But people ate it anyway, and even liked it.
Over the years, the public got more demanding and moved on to other places.
That led to a decline in service and facilities, which drove even more customers away.
