Democrats are in denial. Their party is actually in deep trouble.

Yes, Barack Obama is taking a victory lap in his seventh year in office. Yes, Republicans can't find a credible candidate to so much as run for speaker of the House. Yes, the GOP presidential field is led by a megalomaniacal reality TV star. All this is true — but rather than lay the foundation for enduring Democratic success, all it's done is breed a wrongheaded atmosphere of complacence.

Democrats are not in trouble as long as they have the Republicans to save them from themselves.

If they are in trouble it is due to internal tensions and nothing coming from their opposition.

The Clinton Mafia vs. the Obama Chicago Mob appears to be ready to break out in a mob war.

Hard core Euro-Socialists vs. more traditional pragmatic Dems.

Blacks vs. Hispanics for the title of #1 Most Favored Minority.

The GOPee party might be in trouble, BUT the voters aren’t:

This is the Trump Train:

He has told us about immigration, and how he would handle it;

He has told us about how to get jobs back into America, and what he would do to do it;

He has a tax plan, and how it works;

He has a gun plan, and how he would work it;

He has told us obumacare is bad for the country, and what he would do about it;

He has told us that the immigrants are being treated better than our vets, and what he would do to change it;

He has told us why he is financing his own campaign and why he is doing that;

He has told us that he wants Education back in the States, not in the federal government and why;

He has told us why he wants to shut down the EPA, and the reasons why;

He has told us why P.C. is so bad, and how it is taking away our expression of the freedoms we have;

So this is why my support goes to Trump, he makes deals, he runs multi billion dollar companies, and owns them, with someone as brilliant as this, I want someone to put America on its feet again....

Every year before a national election articles like this start showing up telling us how the democrat party and liberal politics is doomed or dying.

But apparently democrats aren’t reading the articles.

Because democrats still have the presidency and their sizable minorities in the house and senate keep setting the agenda and keep bullying the republican majorities into saying “UNCLE”!

I think your correction to Buckeye McFrog’s generally accurate and well-taken statement is more precise.

I gave up hope for the voting public after they elected the worst president ever FOR A SECOND TIME. First time shame on him; second time shame on them.

No, it’s not a waste of time.
We need to invest time in knowing what the other side is thinking so we can counter them in political discussions and win debates and ultimately elections.

In my opinion it is. I don’t need to continually invest my attention and energies to “keep up” with the other side when I inherently know it is evil to the core and has nothing of value to offer me. To me that’s just an exercise in self abuse.

Democrats are in denial. Their party is actually in deep trouble.

They don't have much of a bench. They won't take back either the House or the Senate in 2016. Their problems will really become apparent in 2020 or 2024.

Matthew Yglesias is not a great thinker. In fact half of Twitter seems to be dedicated to correcting his factual screw ups. But he does have a good point. He is concerned about the lack of depth in the democrat team down ticket, and democrats should be. We on the other hand, need to keep hitting them at the state level. When we get control of a state, the first thing we need to do is to stop using the state budgets to fund the left. This is why Scott Walker was so heroic as governor. He defunded the unions. Now they have less resources to mount a comeback. We need to be defunding everything that funds the left, from PBS to planned parenthood to teachers unions.

Having a deep bench at the state level is what gives us the opportunity to turn congress and the executive branch around. Its not a coincidence that the top level of democrats are now pushing 70, with no one behind them as a next generation. Their next generation was aborted by the conservative revolution at the state level. And having such a deep bench is also what is creating the opportunities to primary the GOPe.

This is a surprisingly well written and well supported article.

Of course it’s chock full of left-wing shibboleths — and the author is disgusted at the conclusions he is forced to draw.

But it was a lot of fun to read, and laugh at the ‘rat problems — which are, indeed, VERY real.

They have hit upon the key reason WHY Obama is using that horrible SCOTUS decision on “disparate impact” to order HUD to start forcing Section 8 into the suburbs. Break-up the solid GOP districts and gerrymandering.

Same reason he wants to import huge numbers of immigrants and dump them in red states.

It's all they can come up with..."Why he's just one of those reality TV stars."

Reminds me so much of the election of 1980, when Ronald Reagan was constantly derided as a B-movie actor, despite all his other accomplishments. Why he co-starred with a CHIMP...and the chimp upstaged him! they would snicker.

Trump, like Reagan, will have the last laugh.
