Like many bullies, Donald Trump has a dishing-it-out-but-not-taking-it problem. He has systematically insulted the other Republican presidential candidates, often in the crudest, most foul-mouthed way. But he goes ballistic at the slightest criticism. When, for example, Rich Lowry, the highly respected editor of the National Review, observed that Carly Fiorina had emasculated him with the precision of a surgeon – a pretty unarguable conclusion, by the way – he called on the regulators to fine Lowry and ban him from television. Lowry, he added rather lamely, was “a bad guy”.
And yet, incredibly, Trump continues to lead the Republican field by a significant margin. This vain, petulant narcissist, who owes his fame to a reality TV show, is even shown in some polls beating the Democrats. Apparently, lots of voters simply want someone to articulate their anger. It’s almost enough to make me doubt my faith in open primaries.
Almost. We should remember that it’ll be some time before the first ballots are cast in Iowa and New Hampshire. Primaries test candidates in all manner of situations: local radio, rallies, TV debates, front rooms, barbecues for party branches. In consequence, few crackpots get through.
So far, the system has worked. Not in the sense that every winning candidate is an Abraham Lincoln; but in the sense that it is better at weeding out duds than any alternative method. Is it really going to fail now, when we have the strongest Republican primary line-up since at least 1980?
These are serious times, and America is a serious country. There are plenty of outsiders in the Republican field who understand that you can be anti-Establishment without sounding like an online comment thread. Come on, America, don’t do this to us. You deserve better. And we expect better.

Lowry is a putz. His comment was delusional. Trump made a mistake in his remark about her, Fiorina attempted to capitalize on it and flopped. Trump recovered, he leads, she went nowhere with it, Lowry’s adolescent remarks notwithstanding.

If you want this worthless limey’s opinion, I agree with Danny Boy. Trump is a great businessman, but would be a lousy GOP choice, let alone Prez.
I like Hannan, but he needs to stay out of US politics.
Anger is only part of the reason people like Trump.
Truth is we don’t want to end up like the EU.
I'll vote for him if he is the GOP *spit* nominee, and I'll vote for him if he goes 3rd Party and the GOP *spit* nominates someone other than Cruz or Carson... but I'll be very worried and watchful. All the Trump support is for his name recognition, verbally slapping around journalism majors, and saying things that people like hearing. That's a very empty resume to entrust with the future of the world.

Calling someone insane is pretty much attacking him. After 8 years of the Obama administration we're going to wind up with very few foreign allies that he hasn't pissed off. Six months of a Trump administration should take care of any that Obama may have missed.

Oh you mean like at the last debate? A couple of days after the Trump quote on Fiorina talking about how could anyone expect people to vote for someone as ugly as she was? And he said in the debate he suddenly thought she was beautiful? That kind of charm? So how well did his "charm" work?
Whoever Trump picks as Secretary of State is likely to have his hands full going around assuring foreign leaders that when President Trump called them a moron he meant it in the best possible way.

That may be true but Trump isn't helping relations by calling her that.
First of all you are spinning. Trump did not say she was “ugly.” He said “look at that face.”
Fiorina looks like a bitter, angry, resentful, mean woman. Trump said he was referring to her persona which is bitter, angry, resentful and mean. With that kind of “face” she simply will not win neither will Hillary for that matter. She is just as much a sour puss.
That criticism was silly and he made her look small when he said she was beautiful during the debate. He was basically saying she can’t handle criticism and was hiding behind her gender so he had to call her beautiful to make her feel better.
Basically, she can’t take it like a man. Are you kidding me? You can bet the terrorists are watching this and so are the Putins of the world. They are laughing when these women who are running for president go into hysterics because someone makes a comment about their face. The terrorists are praying Fiorina or Clinton get elected. They will pummel them because they are already falling apart at the name calling level. They will be easy pickings.
During this time Trump has had a bounty of $100 million put on his head by one of the biggest drug dealers in the world. He is regularly getting death threats and there is not a peep from the media or from Fiorina for that matter but make a comment about Fiorina’s face and the whole world falls apart.
Give me a break. Trump is brilliant and he knows how to move the pieces across the chess board to his advantage. Fiorina is throwing tantrums because she cannot win like a man.
She has fallen off the polling landscape into oblivion. That says it all. Trump who supposedly is the clown with no talent is number 1 everywhere.
