s China's "Golden Week," a seven-day public holiday celebrating the country's national day, came to a close on Wednesday, Chinese citizens flocked home -- at the same time.
Around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, hundreds of thousands of northbound vehicles got stuck on the G4 Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau (Jinggang'ao) expressway, People's Daily China reported. The 1,400-mile-long expressway runs between Beijing and Shenzhen, and connects along the way to other major cities in the Hebei, Henan and Guangdong provinces.

Uh oh, we've got major problems out on the Van Wyck. 26 lanes suddenly squeezing down into 6. Somebody SCROOOOOOOOD-UP on THAT one!

Don’t know about China, but when I lived in the Tokyo area, middle lanes would change directions at regular times daily to respond to the traffic flow.

That struck me too -
I remember watching Nixon’s trip to China on Live TV.
What was once a comparatively primitive country has jumped leaps and bounds in 40 years.
Soaring standard of living, housing values, consumer growth, city smog, and near fifth generation fighter planes.
Mostly thanks to us, a short sighted country that traded it’s wealth, standard of living and stature, to be able to buy lots of cheap foreign made goods...
What was that about capitalists willingness to sell the very rope they’ll hang from?

Isn’t this a pay one-way toll stop.

And they have absolutely no intention of following any sort of “carbon reduction” program. That’s for stupid Americans.

"Gee, 26 lanes of traffic funneled into 6. Think that might cause a problem?" Looks like the Bay Bridge toll plaza. Are hey collecting $6 from each car?

This is just like the Florida Turnpike after an accident except it’s 40 lanes by 5 miles instead of 3 lanes by 150 miles.

Isnt this a pay one-way toll stop? Yup.
Off the bottom of the picture is where the incoming 4 lanes of traffic widen out into 26 lanes of parallel toll collecting.
