Blackburn Should Be Next #SpeakerOfTheHouse
yallpolitics.com ^ | October 09, 2015 | Congressman Steven Palazzo

Posted on 10/09/2015 4:49:27 PM PDT by Helicondelta

It’s no secret that there has been a fair amount of dissention among the Republican Party in Congress. A few weeks ago, Speaker of the House John Boehner, who became the primary target of blame for the party’s division, announced his resignation. The opportunity to elect new leadership should have been the first step towards uniting our party; however, that has been far from the case.

Turmoil in the House seems to only have increased as we work to determine who is best fit to lead Congress. However, one thing upon which everyone can seem to agree on are the principles we would each want in the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The Four Principles

First, we need a proven conservative. Second, we need someone who has stood up to the Republican establishment. Third, we need someone who is willing to take on this President and his liberal agenda every single day. And lastly, we need someone who will bring us back to regular order and restore committee jurisdiction.

Who Should the Next Speaker Be?

Over the past weeks, I have listened to my colleagues about what they want to see in a Speaker. They want to see these principles in action and they want to see leadership. I went down the list of the 246 Republicans in the House and one name came up again and again: Congressman Marsha Blackburn. From her strong pro-life stance to her fight to protect our Second Amendment right to bear arms, Congressman Blackburn is a proven conservative fighter.

Last year, she led the fight against amnesty in the House, as well as sponsored legislation known as the CLEAR act that gives law enforcement the tools they need to assist the Federal government in deporting criminal illegal immigrants from our country.

Hmmm. I’d like to get to know her, yes I would.
If Ms Blackburn has a big name person backing her, this could happen.
It won’t be John McCain or Steven King though. You can bet on that. I recommend she get the Greta Van Sustren treatment. Greta is a good interviewer and is not as likely to ask ‘gotcha’ questions on the air, like Chris Wallace or Bret Bair or Sheperd Smith.

She is not and would not be even a “Fair” Speaker of the House

What the hell does that mean, she won't get equal pay?

I’ve always liked her! She’s good! Now that being said,I don’t know her complete voting record but appears to be a good conservative.

I second that.

She is far from a RINO as it gets. When she was in the TN state legislature she lead the fight against a state income tax and has supported conservative causes tirelessly.

But what will the caucus elect her to DO?
I don’t think 140 RINOs are going to elect any Speaker to push conservative policy.

Marsha Blackburn would be a SOLID accountable choice. She's been just that for Tennessee.

The only problem is that the GOPe do not want someone like Blackburn who would dissipate their power rather quickly.

The problem, as I see it, is the best candidates are being held at bay by the GOPe.

I think she might have a better chance than you think.

Yes, she is conservative but she is also respected by all.

I like this idea—a lot.

She’s conservative and she’s tough.

I think she could handle Pelosi with finesse.

And she could singlehandedly defuse the whole Dem “War on Women” theme the Dems are itching to resurrect, as she will be the first GOP woman Speaker.

Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!

Im from TN to she is an excellent representative of this state, and would be a much better speaker than what we have now or what the are trying to push on us with Ryan.

Blackburn’s immigration stance looks promising, although a few thousand illegals deported is not even a drop in the bucket.

Can she herd RINO cats?

Marsha would be a good speaker, but hell will freeze over before she gets the job.

So I’m going to have to come out in support of Ryan who will be awesome!

From my perspective, Ryan’s a win/win. Of all the candidates being considered he would do the most lasting damage to the gop. The fact that he would be elected by an overwhelming majority of the gop in the house is just further testament to their hatred of conservatives and everything we stand for. This would in turn give great momentum to a “stay home 2016” movement.

The margin of loss in the house and senate in 2016 will be epic for the gop and Ryan as speaker would help break conservatives of their voting habit. What’s not to like? It’s not like the house and senate are going to have a sudden change of heart and do anything remotely conservative anyway. Whoring is what whores do. They aren’t going to change.

She is a “GOOD” Rep, however she has a lack of leadership rolls within the GOP. That would hurt her as speaker.

Yep, I did vote for her and will the next time.

I will agree, she would be a LOT better that what we have now. I just think her lack of GOP leadership rolls will stop her from getting 218 votes.
