Last month, CNN hosted a Republican presidential primary debate. The main event was a 3-hour affair. Next week, the same network will host a Democratic presidential primary debate. But this time, the debate will be one hour shorter -- it'll span only 2 hours.

I know Trump is running as a Republican but his being there will definitely spice things up and bring in higher ratings. I think Trump should be there.

3 hours was too long but there are a LOT of GOP candidates. Dems have only @ 5? 2 hours will be painful.
It doesn’t really matter how long it will take, but I am fairly confident that the vast majority of the Democrat debate will be comprised of their candidates trashing Conservative ideas and policies. Compare that to the Republican debates where almost the entire time is spent asking the candidates to trash each other.
How many hours of the Hillary and Bernie Show do you think the 12 people who watch CNN can take?

I have a general impression that the gop base listens and probes the candidates much more than the ‘Rat base theirs. We weed out, or at least try to in most cases. ‘Rat base could not care less what felon thug lowlife etc gets elected.

Hillary Clinton took aim at the National Rifle Association in Iowa on Wednesday, hitting the group for what she claims is its “absolutist” stance on gun rights and comparing it to “the Iranians and Communists.”
Clinton drew the connection to the gun rights group and murderous tyrants after a woman in the audience at a town hall meeting in Mount Vernon noted that President Obama seemed defeated during his remarks on gun control following last week’s mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore.

Makes sense. They only have two candidates.
I rarely come to CNN’s defense, but since there are only 3 (or 4?) Dem candidates, 2 hours is probably enough. When you have 10 candidates on a stage, 3 hours is probably the minimum.
And, yeah, more than 2 hours of Hillary & Bernie would be awful.
