No one needs to be so attached to “Material things”. However eminent domain should always be processed through a court. For example your neighbor can not force you to sell your property so he can build a bigger house. But if the use is for public benefit such as a hospital, highway, airport, school, etc. then owner should be required to sell. And the compensation musty be substantially higher than appraised value.
