The long and short of it is that my original restore was interrupted before all the files were restored. When I brought the system up I noted all the lost files and attempted to restore them folder by folder. This way lies madness - I have 168 Gigs on my HD.
The gent from Carbonite restored files on a folder basis for a while when the light obviously dawned on both of us.
He restored all the files to my mirror image drive, from where they are now being restored one-by-one to their customary niche in my labyrinthine HD. That process started late yesterday morning and should conclude early tomorrow evening.
