Posted on 10/06/2015 3:22:51 PM PDT by RoosterRedux

He was incredibly good. Gave specifics, was strong, was presidential.

And what energy!

I will post a video when it hits youtube.

As I understand it, the laws of each state vary, but that isn't what my reply was about. It concerned the rights of the developer who spent millions to purchase the property around that of the one holdout. Highways, yes. Redeveloping slums, no.

Well yes, a developer should be protected from people trying to blackmail them for millions of dollars for property that is worth far less. If you're in a City and you're living next to the slum, you might appreciate why you'd want it bulldozed and redeveloped. It improves the livelihood of the entire city.

The concept of property was that you had a stake in the country. I believe it was required to vote early on.

Trump has a big stake in this country...and so do his heirs. It's what it's all about.

If I had all his money, I wouldn't know what to do with it. I sure wouldn't work as hard as he does.

Sign me....not being duped.....

If you consider it “superior” to evaluate candidates rather than just jumping on a bandwagon, maybe I qualify. I consider my approach both prudent and very pro-American.

I sit here amazed that this thread on Free Republic, of all places, has posters defending the Kelo decision and opposing private property rights.

Truly astonishing.

A person's "want," whether they live next to a slum or not, doesn't override property rights. There's risk when making a purchase whether it's a developer who's gambling that he can get all parties to agree to a buyout so he can build his project, or the homeowner who purchases a house in a city that may turn into a slum. Risk is part of the deal.

If one takes a risk and it doesn't turn out, trying to get government to force the other party to forfeit it's private property rights is wrong.

His name-calling and “great” and “greatest” message is more likely aimed at the low-info part of the conservative base, who are angry and love the pompous persona.

Not at all. That's just the way Trump has always talked. Everything thing has always been great, all his employees and friends are great people and his buildings are great buildings, etc., etc., etc., going back since he first became a public figure.

Then it follows that you oppose the Founding Fathers who wrote eminent domain into the Constitution and never imposed or limited it onto the individual States, which are fully within their rights to create whatever law they want on the subject.

And here you were accusing everybody of being "low information" a second ago!

Actress Suzanne Kaaren thoughts on her eviction notice from Trump.

In 1988 Kaaren was quoted as saying about The Donald, "He wants to buy up all of New York. The man is a greedy slob." She'd change her tune some ten years later when she told the New York Times, "He's handsome. He's very energetic. He's very ambitious. He's into real estate and beautification. I don't think he's into it for the accumulation of wealth as much as the spirit of development." She added, "He's wonderful ... I wish him the best of luck."

Absolutely. The lack of knowledge of the principles of conservatism is disturbing.

Is using eminent domain to “improve the livelihood of the entire city” by taking the homes of poor people your idea of small government?

What principles are you referring to? It certainly has nothing whatever to do with preserving the Constitution, which has eminent domain written right into it!

Should it expand? That's not the question...or is it?>

The need for eminent domain (and expansion) was recognized in the US Constitution and has been recognized ever since. There can always be debates and court cases about specfic situations.

That's up to the city and the state to determine, not any of your business. Those "poor" people, under the 14th amendment, should expect due compensation, but in general it's a State's rights issue on what qualifies as good or bad reasons to force the purchase of that land.

The government gave me pennies on land they took from my property to widen road and make an entry from side road safer. The frontage is considerably less making total value less. However, several accidents on that corner made a death a certainty in the future. What price does one put on a life. Just figured it was part of giving to make life better for others. Sort of like a soup kitchen only better

You do have valid points. A lot has been “overlooked” by folks supporting Trump...one reason is that they are tired of being stabbed in the back and Trump appears to be the only hope left. We are all mad, hate the way things are going. The mood is getting real ugly in this country.

Trump isnt perfect, not by a long shot, but he has struck a nerve and just may go all the way to the White House.

For what? Crushing the little guy with eminent domain? For his adherence to family? For overcoming his financial struggles? For his faith?

First of all, Vera Coking won her court case and Trump moved on. A liberal would have appealed or brought the entire U.S. gov't down on her. Trump uses the laws as written and respects the law.

Secondly, yeah for "overcoming his financial struggles". What's in your wallet?

Thirdly, why would you elect a President for his faith? What difference would it make unless he belongs to a violent religion bent on destroying the world, oh wait.
