From a recent e-mail:
Australian Gun Law Update;
Here’s a thought to warm some of your hearts....
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real
figures from Down Under. It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500 million dollars.

The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria.....alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.(Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.

Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in ‘successfully ridding Australian society of guns....’

You won’t see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.

The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before it’s too late!

Such a gun law would be thrown out by the courts.

Breathtakingly stupid, this Mika.

I way we rescind the freedom of the press from the first amendment before we consider rescinding the second.

Well Mika, if you want to drastically ramp up the odds of you being murdered, robbed or raped, sure: GO FOR IT.

The recent mass shooting will go down the memory very fast, count on it.

Why not at least be intellectually honest and just go for a repeal of the Bill of Rights? Then we can work to rewrite that pesky “charter of negative liberties” and just codify the rich paying a 100% tax rate.

Well, there is this thing called the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. It will require a new Amendment to overturn the Second Amendment—and we know the difficulties of passing an Amendment, given how the Equal Rights Amendment failed to get ratified.

Get enough talk about outright bans, and “reasonable” compromises of more controls will appear more acceptable.

The most hilarious aspect about silly little Mika is she really, really takes herself seriously.

Reasons America’s enemies cannot make Mika’s dream come true:

1. The Constitution says that our God-given individual human right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

2. Unless the fascist far left is willing to fight a civil war in order to disarm decent Americans, they are not willing to do what it takes to implement this totalitarian goal. Talking about it is great for gun sales but does not accomplish anything other than ensuring that decent people are even better armed.

Some people are too stupid to be free. Mika falls into that category. And is it just me, or is she looking more masculine than Li’l Joey these days?

The ‘answer’ to what?

Why do so many suckers believe in the deus ex machina of government?

Have gun banners ever visited the DMV, the county tax office, or dealt with the IRS? Have they flown and watched the TSA fumbling and bumbling around? Do they drive on roads and bridges crumbling away despite billions collected in fuel taxes?

What ‘answers’ has government provided except in rare cases like WWII and the moon shots that were more a product of individual and group effort as opposed to DC’s chess game?

Why do gun banners think that despite all the nasty, slow-moving, ineffective bureaucrats they’ve encountered that there is a secret location where the smart, loving, compassionate, efficient and fair bureaucrats work? Why do gun banners think the secret nice bureaucrats will be in charge of gun control and not the usual paper pushers?

And, as always, why do gun banners think that a street thug with an 8th grade education or a madman with a college degree will pay one whit of attention to the ‘answer?’
