First of all, look at the number of gun deaths on that chart from 2011. Its 32,351. Thats a lot of gun deaths to be sure. So thats the total number of murders by gun owners, right? The answer is not only Hell No, but its not even remotely close. Its true that this figure is close to the total number of human lives ended in incidents involving a gun, but thats all incidents. So how did those deaths happen?

I’m convinced liberals/progressives really don’t want a solution. Their end game, their goal, is confiscation. Without these mass shootings/killings, they have nothing to use to achieve their main goal.
He should have included a comparison of suicide rates in the US to those of European countries. The fact that we’re about average compared to them makes it exceedingly clear how disingenuous it is to lump suicides in with the homicide data.
Here’s a thought to warm some of your hearts....
From: Ed Chenel, A police officer in Australia
Hi Yanks, I thought you all would like to see the real
figures from Down Under.
It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to
surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own
government, a program costing Australia taxpayers
more than $500 million dollars.
The first year results are now in:
Australia-wide, homicides are up 6.2 percent,
Australia-wide, assaults are up 9.6 percent;
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria.....
lone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent.(Note that
while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not
and criminals still possess their guns!)
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.
Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public
safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in ‘successfully ridding Australian society of guns....’ You won’t see this on the American evening news or hear your governor or members of the State Assembly disseminating this information.
The Australian experience speaks for itself. Guns in the
hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note Americans, before it’s too late!
Will you be one of the sheep to turn yours in?
WHY? You will need it.
Yeah, but other ‘westernized’, industrialized, blah, blah, blah countries/nations....
I don't disagree that the left would love to confiscate all guns. But I think most politicians don't care. They just go in front of cameras, start saying "gun control..blah blah..." to give their idiot constituents an impression that they are doing something, when they are really just posing.
The majority of those deaths are suicides. They should not be counted. If someone wants to find a permanent solution to a temporary problem they can find a way. Guns are just convenient, and relatively certain and painless.
Of the rest, that actually involve one person shooting another, a large proportion, about 45%, are scum killing scum at no net loss to society (the normal Chicago weekend).
The actual incidents of innocent people being murdered by gun-wielding criminal scum is actually rather low - less than a quarter of the total.
You can find your own stats. Google is your friend.
It goes back to the basics, Liberals fear FACTS and then there’s the Liberal Government that wants a totally submissive population.
Not really.
LOL! Google is my ‘friend’? I feel so much better now knowing that. Didn’t do the math, but statistically, small number when/if comparing the number of firearms vs population in the country. Adjust as needed to fit your end game. :>}
Finally, a good percentage of these lunatics think this is the way for them to immortalize themselves. What would happen if the MSM refused to print their name or pictures? Perhaps some would say that, without the notoriety, it's not worth it.
Obozo and other deep thinkers probably thought things like prohibition would prevent drinking, too. Idiots.
“How many potential mass murders didn’t happen because a private individual had a gun and intervened or how many didn’t happen because concealed carry....”
We’ll probably never know for certain since when these things occur, I’m thinkin’ most folks who may have prevented something, don’t call the cops or media and tell them they just stopped an incident.
Exactly!
The left is being as genuine as they have been on the war on poverty. They love issues far more than solutions and if they can pull the teeth of a free people along the way they will love it because they will have new issues. You know the dangerous hoards of people who managed not to turn in their guns and get on the Democrat Plantation.
Oregon shooter’s father says UK gun bans are what is needed in the U.S.
Exactly as I see it. Disarming America has long been one of the most cherished goals of the left.
Crime follows demographics, not guns.
Your apt questions made me think of another: How many murders and spree shootings did NOT take place because the potential murderers committed suicide with firearms rather than carry out their plans?
Almost all the spree shooters end up committing suicide once they meet armed resistance. I always think, “why don’t these miserable nuts simply kill themselves first and leave others out of it?” It stands to reason that quite a few do. But there will never be statistics on this, or how many innocent victims were saved by firearms suicides.
Again, I think they do it so their name is burned into the air waves. If the MSM refused to ID the people and simply report the event, I think there would be a lot less of this kind of stuff.
Maybe they should outlaw sodomy.
