Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is trying to inject life into his campaign for president by hitting two birds with one tweet.
The Republican, who is languishing near the bottom of the pack in polling, stepped up his attacks on front-runner Donald Trump on Friday -- and this time, he included Texas Sen. Ted Cruz in his line of fire.
@TedCruz why won't you stand up to @RealDonaldTrump on single payer healthcare? That's not conservative leadership," Jindal tweeted, with a link to a post on his website.
In the post, Jindal accuses Trump of supporting government-run health care for all, seizing on "60 Minutes" comments from Trump that he would "take care of everybody" and "the government's gonna pay for it."
Jindal labeled it "TrumpCare."
The post takes fellow candidate Cruz to task for not repudiating Trump. Cruz has largely avoided insulting Trump, and Trump has returned the favor.
"Even conservative senators like Ted Cruz are complicit," Jindal wrote. "He has distinguished himself by praising Trump's positions and clinging to his events, in the hope of picking up his votes when he eventually fades."
Cruz's campaign declined to comment.
In the "60 Minutes" interview, Trump said he would replace Obamacare with a much better system.
"I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not," Trump said. "I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. ... The government's gonna pay for it. But we're going to save so much money on the other side."

Jindal being the hit man for the GOPE looking to his next GOPE job, K Street?
What a slimeball Jindal is. Trump was clearly responding to the question of how he’d pay for coverage for the poor (AKA Medicaid) and in the very same interview made clear that “most of us” would get private coverage on the free market.
Jindal has really shown himself to be a snake.
.
Disappointing to see Jindal making a fool of himself.
Cruz isn’t supporting anyone; he’s just acknowledging such good points as may be evident. Bashing is never productive in a primary; you never know whose ring you’ll end up kissing.
.
The only thing Cruz has said about the other candidates is to ask where they are while he is leading the fight on Capitol Hill.
Dang, I used to like Bibby Jindal. But it seems his inner 0bama has come out in this campaign. He’s been downright childish. Disappointing to see this.
I used to really like and respect Jindal...
Well, you knew the “Hail Mary’s” would be coming.
No diss to Jindal. He has a bright future.
Remember Rove and the GOPee have all the research files on each candidate. There must be something in Bobby’s that he doesn’t want made public
I don't recall hearing Ted Cruz denigrate or criticize any other candidate in the Republican party either. Certainly he's following Reagan's example.
Now when he turns his wrath on the Democrats it's clear to anyone with eyes that see and ears that hear that he gives it to them with two smoking barrels.
I like that about Ted Cruz.
I do not have a horse in this race as of yet so I neither defend, nor advocate for any Republican candidate at this time. IMO it's still waaaaaay too early.
If you are going for the Top Hyperbole of the Thread Award, I think you just won.
Mr. ZERO percenter? Well, now he's got momentum...wrong way, but momentum...
Jindal, one of the (campaign) 1%ers.
Going after Cruz is not a smart play...
Facing a Trump / Cruz tag team will not help Bobby with either donors or polls.
You can’t do the bidding of the cartel and then try to claim the outsiders mantle.
Not to mention the claim is nonsense more aligned with VOx than it is with reality.
I thought he dropped out last month. Wow.
There’s a reason why Cruz refrains from the strategy being followed by Gov. Jindal and all the other candidates attacking Trump. He’s far smarter than them. Cruz recognizes that no one’s going to persuade primary voters by attacking other candidates and any “good boy!’s” they might earn from the media are a kiss of death in this environment. Trump isn’t the enemy ... Obama, the Democrats, and the Republican congressional “leadership” are.
Trump can and does attack - or counter punch when others come after him,. It would be totally out of character for Cruz and phony if he did so. This will just roll off his back. Notice how the media immediately goes to the Cruz campaign for an answer hoping to get a sound bite they can plaster all over the news cycle for the next week or so? They love to hear Republicans fighting with each other.
Why is Jindal even running? He isn’t qualified, being an anchor baby.
Jindal has made himself pathetic, but I haven’t heard of his hanging out in bathhouses, killing babies, doing coke, trying to set off an EMP over the mid-West...
When this race is over, Jindal will be lucky to land a job as night manager at a Motel 6.
