There are unconfirmed reports that the shooter had either been shot or had shot himself. An official confirmed that the shooter had been “neutralized.”

The community college is a gun-free campus.

“Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms (including but not limited to BB guns, air guns, water pistols, and paint guns) ammunition, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on college property, except as expressly authorized by law or college regulations, is prohibited,” the college’s security policy states

Instead of that sign, why didn’t they post a sign at the entrance to the college saying, “Gun Free Zone, proceed to the shooting gallery”.

Those who were wounded and the families of those who were killed should sue not only UCC but each of the administrators and board members for failing to ensure the their and their loved one’s safety.

If the students are sitting at desks, the best strategy would be for some to rush and some to throw heavy objects (desks if possible) at a lone shooter. Doing nothing, lying on the floor, or crouching in the rear will just get the students shot. They're easy marks.

Obviously, some students will get shot. But there's no way the shooter would be able to shoot everybody if the students were prepared to act. Rushing the shooter and throwing heavy objects at him is the only way to stop the carnage.

This excerpt explains why the authorities have been slow in releasing info about the shooter:
