LANSING (WWJ/AP) – Michigan has one of nation’s largest Middle Eastern populations and Gov. Rick Snyder says he “would love to see it grow.”
The governor says Michigan can expect to see more Syrian refugees in the coming months as his administration continues talks with federal officials about the role the state can play in taking more refugees from war-torn Syria and the Middle East.
“The governor thinks it’s an economic plus,” reported WWJ Lansing Bureau Chief Tim Skubick. “And to those who fear that the immigrants would take away jobs, the governor says, Michigan has a record of immigrants coming in and actually creating jobs.”
The Republican governor spoke Tuesday to the inaugural meeting of the state Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs in Lansing. The board works within the Department of Civil Rights to monitor, evaluate and make recommendations to the governor.

The only jobs created by the Arab population around the Detroit area is for themselves. Probably 80 percent of the party stores, smoke shops, gas stations and quick mart are owned by them. Most are in crime riddin places and get robbed regularly.
In addition Michigan politicians are so desperate for new cash, since voters turned down their last proposal to raise taxes, they will stoop to anything.

Yes, that's true, you know. Think of all of the extra police, security guards, court personnel, lawyers and prison guards you need with more and more Moslems in Michigan! Not to mention the rebuilding revenues that construction companies earn when bombs go off, and the money that doctors, nurses, medical techs and hospitals make after each rape, shooting or bombing.

I live in the UP of MI and 90 + miles away in Menominee, MI the US Government wants to resettle 4500 Syrian Refugees in a city of 8500 people. Menominee has had a bleeding of businesses since 2005. All medical care is provided in Marinette, Wisconsin through Baycare Aurora health (Milwaukee, WI based)with its Green Bay affiliate. I did my mental health counseling MSW granting credential hours in Menominee, MI in 2005 - 2006, after graduating from UW - Madison. right now there is no mosque in all of the UP. If the syrans do come to the UP of Michigan. There is no facilities deemed for them for medical care in Menominee, no Halal businesses and the Michigan UP’s unemployment rate is around 12.7%. Theses people would be welfare recipients. Green Bay Wisconsin is 54 miles to the south and the majority of the Syrians would go to Green bay as it has its Muslim Mosque, cultural center and so forth and it has its distinct Muslim businesses all established on Velp Avenue around the Mosque.
