Sarah Sands was terrified and deeply disturbed when she learned that she and her five children were living next door to a sex offender.
Protecting her children, she picked up a kitchen knife and walked across the Canning Town estate in East London to where 77-year-old Michael Pleasted lived.
She was just trying to scare him, she said. But when he smirked at her, she was filled with a mothers protective rage.

I would advise against walking up to someone with a knife. lucky she didn’t get shot.
She did the job the government failed to do. That said, she did wrong.
She was NOT “protecting her children”.
Sarah Sands is more than welcome to move in to my neighborhood. Hell, I would even co-sign for the house next door.
This was in England, so probably not a huge risk there. Odd that if you kill a burglar in your own home with shotgun you get sent off to prison, but one can walk into someone else’s home and kill them and they get off.
Most likely, if the killer was not sympathetic and the victim was not loathsome, it wouldn't have happened...
Why is it alive when it should have been executed.
Doesn’t sound like she is of the muslim culture.
Pre-emptively she did...and did what the government failed to do...rid society of a predator that had no business consuming oxygen.
Yes, this was a horrid, despicable man. No, she was not justified in stabbing him to death just because of her understandable revulsion. On the day the final encounter is described, this man did nothing to put her or her children in inimate danger.
Yes, he lived next door, which was frightening and disgusting. No, she cannot walk about knifing every person who frightens and disgusts her. Nobody can. If she were a male single parent, or if she had not been a sweet faced young lady with a good complexion, I guarantee she would have been dealt with more harshly.
That said, this man should have been either executed or imprisoned for life many years ago.
A little personal history, my mother married a pedophile and I separated from them all as they accepted his “healing”
My daughter is safe, he never touched her but I had to threaten him to his face that I would kill him for badgering my older sister and beating my mother. You have no clue how much anger can be stored up when your children are involved. When my daughter emerged from her mother I was there, and at that moment every man in the world became my enemy, only relinquished totally when she married.
She did go off but I have suffered that very look from my Stepfather when he was describing my sisters body to me and my brothers.
There is the issue right there that makes this problematic at most, and perhaps even laudatory.
It was England. Knives are as good as it gets.
...she was handed just three years for manslaughter. She could be out in less than 11 months.
They should have given the prosecutor and parole agent 25 each years .
They need more of her ilk in Rotherham!
Just doing the job the justice system refused to do.
3 1/2 years is a bit harsh in my book. I would have let her out on bail and then set the trial for January 2115.
