Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney listed a half-dozen Republican candidates he said could qualify as mainstream conservatives his party could live with in a general election — and said he didn’t think Donald J. Trump was one of those.
Mr. Romney, a two-time candidate who was the party’s standard-bearer in 2012, ticked off New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and businesswoman Carly Fiorina as viable options.

Mr. Romney did not mention retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who along with Mr. Trump and Ms. Fiorina has captured an anti-establishment sentiment within the GOP primary electorate.

I’m in AZ and am blessed by the full throated conservatism of McCain. Even with the Californication and illegals there are holdout areas of sanity. But SC has our problem. Not enough of them left.

Caught a headline early, early this morning on Drudge from Ann Romney saying something about Trump to the effect that his run was “interesting”. Didn’t have time to go to the link and looks like it’s gone now!
And the Wash Times did not mention that Ted Cruz was not mentioned.
That would be a Double Exclusion for Ted Cruz.
Can we take up a collection and buy Romney a clue?
It must be hard for the once-famous to accept the fact that they are irrelevant.

everyone he mentioned is 100% GOPe. Carson is just a useful idiot for the GOPe. Carson is just a sacrificial anode to keep trump numbers from going too high.

While it was a 100% disaster that Obama won in 2012, it would have been a 97% disaster if Romney won.
I’m glad that he didn’t mention Cruz.
He does leave a lasting bitterness in one’s mind.
Cruz I think would be happy that Romney did not endorse him, Trump also.
Mainstream conservative? I thought Romney was a severe conservative.
