Carly Fiorina is surprising many Republicans with her meteoric rise to the top tier of the 2016 GOP race. But here in California, her sparkling performances on the campaign trail look more like a case of déjà vu.
Before plummeting to a 10-percentage-point loss during a wave year for Republicans in 2010, the former chief executive mounted a fierce challenge to U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer with all of the same assets she is displaying now.
She dazzled voters, particularly women, with her secretary-to-CEO life narrative. She impressed them with her toughness -- from her well-placed jabs at Boxer to her own gutsy story as a breast cancer survivor. She demonstrated a brilliant ability to synthesize complex issues into sound bites, even if critics often took issue with the way she framed the facts.
But the 2010 race offered a window into something else: the ease of constructing a brutal and relentless takedown of the one-time Hewlett-Packard chief executive that could well be repeated in the presidential cycle. The anti-Fiorina playbook in California packed a powerful one-two punch: pairing the stories of dismissed H-P workers with details of her compensation package and luxurious CEO "perks" -- from private jets to yachts -- defining her as the face of corporate greed.
The attacks were particularly potent, because opponents used Fiorina's own words against her, plucking damaging quotes from the vast trove of video that comprises her business career.

You are somewhat correct.
However the Republican party in California is a total mess! They cannot field a viable candidate.
They tend to field these unrelatable candidates that seem to be in it for the glory and not for helping people.
The party has basically given up and died in California.
I disagree. 2010 was a strong republican year, Boxer has never been very popular and California (and the USA) were less radical in 2010 than in 2015. Remember when Obama was in favor of civil unions instead of gay marriage?
The guy I'm thinking of does have a fair amount in common with Mitt, not that you mention it, especially his love of socialized medicine. ;-)
Indeed it was a strong republican year, for most of the country, but California was never seriously in play after September of that year. Like I said... it's D+15 out there. There's no overcoming that.
They could resurrect Ronald Reagan and he'd still lose out there by a landslide. California is gone. Permanently.
California's purpose for national GOP candidates is fundraising. Actual campaign appearances there add up to a waste of time.
You can try to spin FioRINO’s firing by the McCain campaign and her last minute collapse and landslide loss in California as much as you want.
But the truth is FioRINO was tied in the polls with Boxer until the negative HP ads were unleashed by the Boxer campaign.
But of course, you know that. She is your Designated Loser.

By late August, Boxer already had a lead that she never relinquished.
FioRINO collapsed. She choked at the end. Like any good GOPe Designated Loser. Just like Romney and McCain. And the fact that she was fired by the McCain campaign 2 years earlier for being a dolt should have been a warning.
Like I said earlier... the CA GOP could’ve resurrected Reagan and it wouldn’t have mattered. CA is part of the democrat caliphate... gone for all time.
I don’t disagree with you on the California caliphate being gone for all time. But FioRINO collapsed because of the Boxer ads. It was a collapse. And those types of ads were used against Romney because they worked. And they will be recycled again if FioRINO gets the nomination and she will lose again. The RATS have a roadmap and Hillary hired Boxer’s ad guru.
I don’t doubt that the ads hastened Fiorina’s downfall in 2010, but let’s hold no illusions that any Repub would’ve had a chance in that state.

California is a lost cause. That’s for sure.

Facts are facts. She was fired from HP and destroyed Lucent.
A lady in the Trump crowd in NH told Trump and everyone listening that she was worked for Lucent for 37 years and lost everything, to include a half million dollars in retirement due to Fiorina’s management of the company. HP wanted to get rid of her so bad they gave her 21 million dollars in a severance package. I think she would make a good VP for Hillary Clinton.

She loves eternally murderous deathcult known as Islam,

and she doesn’t know how to run a bidness,

Even Boehner barely wins by more than 60-40! I’d agree with you that she did pretty well to lose by only 10% (55% to 45%)

Just as Chet99 posted every freaking article in the world about pitbulls, every negative Fiorina article pops up here for the haters to hate on.
I, for one, think she is a very clear speaker; better than Trump, Bush, and the rest. I don’t like some of her platform, but I’d rather go with new, clear thinking than old school Republican GOPe pablum.
I couldn't agree more. She's not at my top of choices, but I'll certainly take her over any dirtbag that other party pukes up as its nominee.
