British Hospital Moves Injured Air Force Sergeant Twice Because His Uniform Might Offend Different Cultures

A British hospital has apologized after twice moving a Royal Air Force sergeant out of the sight of other patients over the staffs concern that his military uniform would offend other patients, British media reported this weekend.
According to the servicemans father, hospital workers told aircraft engineer Sgt. Mark Prendeville, 38, that he was moved away from other patients in a waiting room, because they thought his uniform might upset people, as they have all kinds of different cultures coming in.
Sgt. Mark Prendeville was asked by hospital staff to move twice over fears his Royal Air Force uniform might offend the multicultural patients.
Sgt. Mark Prendeville was asked by hospital staff to move twice over fears his Royal Air Force uniform might offend the multicultural patients.
Prendeville was taken to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital in the seaside town of Margate after fire extinguisher chemicals got into his eyes during a training exercise.
Prendevilles father Jim told the Telegraph that he was disgusted and that his son was dumbfounded after being told twice to move out of the view of other patients.
Having served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Bosnia, Predeville was wearing a camouflage combat uniform when he was brought in for treatment.
One of the staff asked him if he would stand around the corner so he wouldnt be seen by other people in case it may upset them because he was in uniform, the father said. He went round the corner not to make a fuss but then another member of staff asked him to move again in case anyone saw him because he was in uniform.
He said why should I move, and they said because your uniform might upset people, we have all kinds of different cultures coming in and you might upset them, Jim Prendeville told the British paper.
The way they treat our servicemen theyre willing to put their lives on the line, and theyre treated like lepers when they go to [emergency room], he added.
A hospital spokesman issued a statement explaining that the staff member was motivated by a previous altercation between a serviceman and a patient.
A member of the armed forces in uniform attended our A&E [emergency room] and was asked by a member of staff if he wanted to sit inside the department rather than the waiting room, a hospital spokesman said in a statement given to the British media.
This employee was acting in good faith because previously, there had been an altercation between a member of the public and a different member of the armed forces in uniform, the spokesman explained.
The hospital is absolutely clear that members of Her Majestys armed forces, whether in uniform or not, should not be treated any differently to any other person, the spokesman added.
This is horrifying, Former RAF navigator Flt. Lt. John Nichol told the Sun. You should be treated differently for wearing a uniform, you should be lauded because youre wearing uniform, you should be celebrated for wearing uniform.
Nichol is a well-known military commentator and author in the U.K. In 1991, his plane was shot down by then-Iraqi President Saddam Husseins forces during the first Gulf War. He was later tortured and paraded on television.
So, they were concerned he might offend the very people who are trying to kill them?
Probably 20% of the country, don’t know the exact figures, are not British in any sense of the word. Don’t know anything of British history and don’t care.
1—96% of the UK is non Muslim, 92% white European. Muslims NOT largest ethnic group. All ethnic groups bar Muslims are fine, and integrate and cause no problems.
2—Very sad attitude. I love history and that includes yours. I devour anything I can on US history, as well as all others. I would be embarrassed to publicly admit/boast I didn’t know anything.
The best way to solve this would be to pack them up and send them home to Kandahar, Karachi, Damascus, or whatever other s@*thole they’re from, but few in Europe have the sand to do it.
Heck, they can’t even say “no” to the new batch, not even those that are clearly there by fraud.
Maybe we should allow right-wing Europeans to migrate here?
I guess you could lump the leftists in with them too. They are ashamed of British history and culture as well.
Is the UK getting any of this latest round of “refugees”. I haven’t really seen or read much about it.
because they thought his uniform might upset people, as they have all kinds of different cultures coming in.
Yes, into a BRITISH Hospital. If they are offended by one of your hero citizens tell them to piss off and go somewhere else...........
Was the person who asked him to move a Muzzi or just a politically correct cretin?
I am not stupid. When you see a cancerous tumor on your nose seek help and not ignore the problem.
You are probably close at 20%. When I lived there 30 years ago London was already becoming foreign. There entire neighborhoods there now that have no English in them.
Never in the history of conflict have so many been so ungrateful to so few. What Hitler could not take away, Britain has ceded to invited invaders.
It is coming here like a run away express train.
Tommy
I WENT into a public ‘ouse to get a pint o’ beer,
The publican ‘e up an’ sez, “ We serve no red-coats here.”
The girls be’ind the bar they laughed an’ giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an’ to myself sez I:
O it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “ Tommy, go away “ ;
But it’s “ Thank you, Mister Atkins,” when the band begins to play
The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
O it’s “ Thank you, Mister Atkins,” when the band begins to play.
I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
They gave a drunk civilian room, but ‘adn’t none for me;
They sent me to the gallery or round the music-’alls,
But when it comes to fightin’, Lord! they’ll shove me in the stalls!
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ “ Tommy, wait outside “;
But it’s “ Special train for Atkins “ when the trooper’s on the tide
The troopship’s on the tide, my boys, the troopship’s on the tide,
O it’s “ Special train for Atkins “ when the trooper’s on the tide.
Yes, makin’ mock o’ uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an’ they’re starvation cheap.
An’ hustlin’ drunken soldiers when they’re goin’ large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin’ in full kit.
Then it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Tommy, ‘ow’s yer soul? “
But it’s “ Thin red line of ‘eroes “ when the drums begin to roll
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it’s “ Thin red line of ‘eroes, “ when the drums begin to roll.
We aren’t no thin red ‘eroes, nor we aren’t no blackguards too,
But single men in barricks, most remarkable like you;
An’ if sometimes our conduck isn’t all your fancy paints,
Why, single men in barricks don’t grow into plaster saints;
While it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Tommy, fall be’ind,”
But it’s “ Please to walk in front, sir,” when there’s trouble in the wind
There’s trouble in the wind, my boys, there’s trouble in the wind,
O it’s “ Please to walk in front, sir,” when there’s trouble in the wind.
You talk o’ better food for us, an’ schools, an’ fires, an’ all:
We’ll wait for extry rations if you treat us rational.
Don’t mess about the cook-room slops, but prove it to our face
The Widow’s Uniform is not the soldier-man’s disgrace.
For it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an` Chuck him out, the brute! “
But it’s “ Saviour of ‘is country “ when the guns begin to shoot;
An’ it’s Tommy this, an’ Tommy that, an’ anything you please;
An ‘Tommy ain’t a bloomin’ fool - you bet that Tommy sees!
I looked up the figures though, and Scotsman looks correct. Outside of London must look very different than London itself.
I assume the RAF uniform in question is not like what we saw in “Dambusters”.
So what’s doing with the Rothenham horror; any “Asians” been remanded to gaol? Kind of quiet on that score.
I’ve read several news stories on how protestors against mussies have been charged.
‘Dont know anything of British history and dont care.’
Sorry, LOL. I misread that as YOU saying you didn’t. Idiot.
They haven’t come in yet, at stage of agreeing to accept.
Agreed.
But we can criticise the UK without all this ‘stick a fork in em, they are done’ overreaction.
London is the UK or even just England. By definition a city is always going to be multiracial/cultural. London has taken Jews, Irish, blacks, Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus, Arabs, Eastern Europeans, Poles, Scots, Welsh etc....
