Donald Trump is in an all-out attack against a surging new rival — and he just fired back

Real-estate developer Donald Trump is now frequently attacking a presidential rival he mostly refrained from criticizing in the past: Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Florida).

During a Thursday morning CNN interview, Trump hit Rubio as a "kid" in a wide-ranging critique.

He first bashed Rubio's credibility as a foreign-policy wonk when asked to compare their knowledge about Syria.

"Marco Rubio sits behind a desk sometimes and he reads stuff," Trump said, according to CNN's transcript. "That's all he does. I create jobs all day long. I'll know more about all of this than all of them put together and believe me, we'll have a winning strategy. If Marco Rubio is good, how come we're doing so badly?"

Trump went on to dismiss the 44-year-old senator's age.

"These guys don't know how to win," he said. "Marco Rubio, he's like a kid. He shouldn't even be running in this race, as far as I'm concerned. He's a kid."

Later in the interview, Trump again called Rubio a "kid" and criticized him for not deferring his candidacy to Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor.

"He's a kid. He has no right — I mean, frankly, he was very disloyal to Bush," Trump said. "Bush was his mentor. And everyone said he'd never run because Bush was his mentor. Well, the fact that Bush was his mentor didn't stop this young guy who is overly ambitious from wanting to run. Now Bush looks foolish and he looks like he's a very disloyal guy, frankly."

Earlier in the day during a "Morning Joe" interview, Trump also mocked Rubio for perspiring during last week's presidential debate.

So... another MSM “quiet anointing” of a GOPe (i.e. Rubio)? The MSM is burning through them pretty quickly, these days... :)

My thinking as well. They may be thinking that Carly's starboard engine is starting to smoke and are lining up Rubio for his turn.

“Trump said. “I’ve never seen a guy down water like he downs water. They bring it in in buckets for this guy.””

Trump is a RIOT!!! Again, he is inside the head of his opponents. Now Rubio has to learn to not sweat (good luck there), just as Bush has to learn to look awake (good luck there), and Carla has to learn to not look like a horse (good luck there).

“Marco Rubio: Let’s face it, Trump is touchy, insecure, and doesn’t know the issues”

How many gulps of water did he take before that sentence!
Rubio is a light-weight.
Trump is strong and doesn't backdown against politicans or the media! He speaks out against the status quo rinos and dims. I'm done with GOPe wind-bags of all talk and do nothing elected officials! Carry on Trump, Hit em hard and furious. That's the way I feel. We will gain nothing if we end up with another GOPe that runs right then plays to the middle and once elected go back left. Almost everytime!

Politics is not pretty. When the GOP is playing pretty, they lose.

There is something about Rubio I don’t trust.

. . . Could it be the fact that he's a proven liar who plays the race card against conservatives as soon as it becomes convenient?

Plays well with Schumer and McCain--attacks Tea Party and Trump.

No one but an imbecile or someone who loves the cheap labor express would vote for Rubio or any if the other RINOs. I want a country don’t you? If so we have to have a border that is secured or we will be north Mexico pretty soon. No central or South American country is something the USA should aspire to. They are all third world shyte holes with crime, cartels, disease and poverty.

"But they didn’t run pretend conservatives when they had a strong establishment incumbent in the field.....and Crist, as sitting governor, and popular, was as strong as an incumbent candidate." [my emphasis]

The operative word in your statement is establishment. Crist certainly was a sitting governor and being somewhat popular, he believed he was a strong candidate for senate. But Crist and the dauphin, JEB! establishment machine did not get along. Crist, because of his desire to be president, was always a bit too independent for the establishment. (Remember Crist hugging Obama.) The JEB! establishment could not trust him. Up came RINO Rubio. Right out of JEB!'s backyard. Was it foolhardy for the former FL House Speaker to go after a popular governor? Not when you are backed by the state and national party elites and establishment.

"The notion floated wat that Rubio was an estab plant. That’s beyond stupid."

The idea that you know anything about Florida politics is "beyond stupid." Maybe you should just stay out of it.
