New York billionaire entrepreneur Donald Trump says he can potentially save the United Nations $1 billion. Could it be a case of unexpected humanitarianism, hyper-aggressive business, bravado, or perhaps all of the above?
In an interview with ABCNEWS.com, the real estate and casino mogul says the perpetually cash-strapped organization has massively overvalued the preliminary projected cost for renovating and expanding its 50-year-old historic headquarters on the East River in Manhattan.
A U.N. study released last year estimated it could cost from $964 million to $1.054 billion to renovate the complex over a 6-year or 12-year period, plus up to $500 million more in interest payments on loans. The cost, theoretically, would be borne by member countries including the United States.

I remember Trump testifying to Congress on this subject a few years ago. It was the first I ever saw him involved in politics.

Trump offers to rebuild the UN saying the present building would be torn down and a magnificent edifice would be built in it’s place for the guardians of the world. They accept as they know they deserve the best and Trump promised them the best.
They would decamp to Brussels while the UN building was torn down then oops gosh darn, Donald Trump announces budget cuts and cannot build that new edifice for them.
The new building will have to wait.... he suggest the guardians of the world start leasing their digs long term in Brussels. Trump plants some grass and trees where the UN once stood and announces a new park for all.
Heck yeah we could save a whole lotta dough with the U.N. Throw it out of NYC and let those antisemitic vermin play with each other in the Netherlands, Belgium or some other place I’d never want to visit. Maybe Swaziland?
