On Wednesday, the Internet rallied support for a bright 14-year-old boy, Ahmed Mohamed, who was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school. Ahmed was proud of his invention, but school officials and police in Irvine, Texas, did not feel the same way. Ahmed found support from big leaguers like President Obama, who tweeted his well wishes, and the original clockmaster himself, Flavor Flav, who told the world to STOP clock blocking. Everyone loves Ahmed except for Bristol Palin and you guessed it Bill Maher.
On Friday evenings episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, the host assured his panel that he would not be throwing the #IStandWithAhmed hashtag anytime soon. Maher believes Ahmed deserves an apology from school officials, but he knows why this happened: People at the school thought it might be a bomb
because it looks exactly like a f---ing bomb. Mahers statement was met with instantaneous audience laughter.

Few things really piss me off. This pisses me off. The kid and the father should be in jail, instead Dear Leader will wine and dine them.
On a related note:
WEVE BEEN HAD!! AHMED DIDNT EVEN MAKE THAT CLOCK!!

God I hate when I agree with Bill Maher.
Well, most if it he just threw into the case. The thing would never pass UL inspection. Shock and fire hazard.
He did take the time to use two screws to hold the led display panel to the inside of the glorified pencil box. Here is a question no one has asked.
Was a science project 'due' that day for science class ?
No one else seemed to be carrying around a science project that day, and I doubt that if they were carrying one that they would 'demo' it in ENGLISH CLASS.
Whether he made it or not (meaning tore apart an old clock and threw it into a pencil box)...WHY is he the only one who had a ‘science project’ in ENLISH CLASS ?
Even a broke clock can be right twice a day
He was going from period to period. Different classrooms.
Maher actually made me laugh with his opening comment. I feel so dirty now.
B I N G O !
Interesting. Doesn’t surprise me a bit.
Father also owns some sort of solar energy company. I’m sure Obama can find a few million to give him.
“Ahmed was proud of his invention,”
What invention?
George thinks he is a cute kid.
Never thought I’d agree with Maher on anything.
I work in a school district (adjacent to Ft. Hood, incidentally). We have to be trained in sexual harassment, spotting child abuse, dating violence, suicide prevention, blood-borne pathogens, using an AED device to save a life, as well as HIPPA and FERPA, and on and on. We have NOT (at least not yet) been trained in recognizing the differences between homemade clocks and homemade bombs. The differences are apparently very obvious to Odumbo and all of the Monday-morning-quarterbacking liberals out “standing with Achmed,” but this school did the absolute right thing. Bring something to school that looks remotely like a weapon; expect consequences.
If this future terrorist had tried slipping that bomb-look-alike through baggage screening at an airport, I trust the appropriate authorities’ reactions would be similar; but I’ll bet the liberals wouldn’t be flipping out about it. Okay to bring a fake bomb to a school, though.
as much as I detest Maher ... on a few issues he has an interesting direct way of calling BS on the liberal group-think
Excellent post, 2ndDivisionVet. That must be the strategy. If the kid is so brilliant he knew exactly what response he would get.
That Maher video showed me that we are only just now beginning to talk openly about what is as plain as the nose in our face....
GW underestimated Islam. Or if he didn’t but refused to talk about it... Either way it was a disservice. Perhaps he thought he could bring things under control before he left.
Of course, Obama pulled out of Iraq, which helped grow ISIS...
This is an old war between good and evil. All most of us can do is to pray, call things for what they are, and try to pass that down.
My children know how I feel about Islam...it is far more than just a religion...they are growing up in Canada... Such a tolerant country,
I tell them, not all Muslims are terrorists... but a massive majority of terrorists are Muslims.
I have friends here who are Muslim. They are very ordinary people, making a living for their families, having uprooted themselves from Morocco to make a life here.
I just wonder if there is some tipping point when Western Civilization dies and even the regular people either become radicalized or are killed by their peers.
Geez - Maher had better be careful - one day he’ll wake up and find out he’s a - gasp - right-winger.....
STOP clock blocking.
Heh. I see what they did there.
Not on this particular issue. When it comes to radical islam, Maher is consistent, and he really, really gets it.
I've seen clips of Maher on his show, where he has a number of guests, all of whom are making squishy excuses for the islamists. Maher will have none of that! He's got the facts and figures, and he won't back down an inch.
It really is an amazing thing to see.
don’t agree with Bill very often but he is spot on with this analysis
Christ is real, and because of that, we are going to see things that look a lot different from what would be expected if it were all “conducted from below.”
By logic, based on what the Koran teaches, all Islamdom should have dissolved into rage... but it hasn’t. Rage breaks out here and there, and yet most of it stays relatively calm. People are still bearing a memory of what actual God wanted.
