It appears to be universally agreed upon that last nights debate on CNN was Carly Fiorinas moment to shine in the spotlight, and she did. The fight to get her as number 11 into the debate paid big dividends for her. She was poised, sometimes stern, and made a great connection between Iran and Planned Parenthood. Many have already jumped on to the Carly bandwagon, but there are still many unanswered questions about her that conservatives should demand answers for first before joining the group.
Was she that great of a CEO at HP?
According to her in the debate, yes she was. What does history say? Not really. Yes, she broke the glass ceiling at HP, but, if you had invested all of your money in HPs stock the day she took control and sold it the day she left, you would have lost half of your wealth. As Politifact and many other sources have pointed out, HPs net earnings dropped 22% from $3.1 billion in 1999 (her first year) to $2.4 billion in 2005 (her last). She claimed last night that she doubled the size of the company, but that was mainly the result of the Compaq merger not growth of HP by itself. According to Fortune, she also made big promises that failed mightily, noting in December 2003, she told analysts that HP thought it could increase earnings per share by more than 20% annually. However, that summer she had to announce that earnings would be 23% lower than expected causing HP stocks to drop. It appears that at HP, she was well known for big talk and empty results. It should also to be noted that she was fired from that position (stocks went up immediately after), and was given a handsome

Sort of like the old $64,000 Question TV show ...
I’ll give her serious consideration for VP or a cabinet post. We need somebody with the skills to kick congressional butt. Running a company and dealing with the senate and house are two completely different animals. In the former, everyone is your subordinate and must obey. In the latter, you are herding cats who have to have a good reason to go along.
FDR, JFK and RWR knew that congress reacts to public pressure and they used the bully pulpit to get things done. The next President will need good public speaking and persuasion skills and the ability to use them in the media. So far, none of the candidates whose policies I like have demonstrated those skills.
Christie and Huckster are good motivators but way too liberal. Trump is a little too combative. Fiorina is dour. Ted Cruz most closely matches my politics, but lacks likability. Rubio, Paul, Santorum and Walker look and sound like kids in an adult world. Jeb is dull. Carson is too unemotional. Kasich, Gilmore, Jindal and Pataki... Who cares?
I think Cruz and possibly Rubio or Walker can get some coaching and gain the necessary skills to be successful presidents, but so far, the fall far short of Renaldus Magnus. I just can’t see any way Trump or Fiorina will make good, persuasive presidents.
As far as the general election, Dems and a lot of Independents, per blog comments, HATE Carly. She has no chance of being elected president and the GOP knows that. She is a useful tool, and nothing more. She can do a lot of damage though. People need to be careful because with Carly's help, we could end up with Jeb.
After her powerful performance, I’m already there.
Hugely impressed with her poise, intellect, and her direct answers.
She acted Presidential.
Carly did not belong on that stage by the original rules of the debate. She has a “rules do not apply to me” view on life and it showed in the debate
Put her where she can get rid of thousands of government employees and close up a few government agencies, that appears to be where experience lies.
The RINOs and other Leftists are pushing her hard - ought to ring a few alarm bells...while being anti-abortion and wanting to defund PP, she has nothing that anyone else has to offer and a lot less than most.
Aw hell no. She has some sort of facial issue with her crossed eyes and crooked lips that makes me dizzy when I look at her.
Carly, YOU’re FIRED,
Only if you’re prepared to deal with the disappointment the day after when the Dems have totally destroyed her with swiftboat-style attack ads featuring ex-HP employees.
Its the Carly’s Free Arena show. The wheels will come off the wagon soon enough. Not too many FReepers for Free Arena around here — with good reason.
Only if you would like to see her do to the USA what she did to HP.
God no.
I am most concerned with her saying illegal cannot be deported. Why not? Also, a really dumb statement was that she would not talk to Putin. What if there is a major crisis and he calls her - will she then hide from him?
No, I’ll still vote for a conservative. No need to waste time with iCarly.
Duff that’s a spot on point. Carly can head up the new ‘Cut Govt. Waste’ division. That’s about her speed and she would be good at it. Carly as president? No freakin’ way.
“Put her where she can get rid of thousands of government employees and close up a few government agencies, that appears to be where experience lies.”
True. That’s what corporate CEO’s have to do from time to time. Corporations, like governments, become bloated. Every middle manager is trying to build an empire.
IRS Commissioner perhaps?
No.
Ha! Well if it is, save me a seat.
