Trump's bumptious body language dominates

For anyone who watched Wednesday night's Republican primary debate with the volume turned down, there was a clear winner, communication experts say: Donald Trump, hands down.

"When it comes to body language, nobody does it better," says David Givens, director of the Center for Nonverbal Studies in Spokane, Washington. "He just neutralizes the opposition."

*snip*

He leans forward on the lectern.

Trump's opponents tend to stand up straight, which might please their mothers, but doesn't do much for the audience. Givens notes that Trump puts his hands on the lectern and leans forward. "It's like he's doing a pushup. It's a display of power," he says.

He gestures out to the audience.

It's a very big gesture, Givens says, reaching way out. "He extends his hands towards you. It's very personal," Givens says.

His palms are up.

When he does these big gestures, he usually has his palms up.

"He's saying 'I'm open, I am who I am and you can trust me,'" Morgan says, noting that Trump tends to have his palms up when facing the audience or when journalists ask him questions, but not when he faces his opponents.

What ever happened to Oh Really’s body language expert?

You'd think she would be blogging about the debates, but no. Maybe she's a Jeb fan — low energy.

Kasich or Walker. Trump may have to gamble for Florida by locking up either Ohio or Wisconsin, with Ohio being the likely choice.

Between his body language, lack of knowledge, and trying to turn it into the dung fight in the primate cage, that did it for me. I will never vote for Trump. His behavior in the first 15 minutes alone only confirmed for me what I thought about him. He needs to pick up an American history book pre-1960, U.S. Government pre-1960, and a Copy of The Constitution of the United States and read them all starting with the Constitution. Then he needs some world history and current events. Maybe in a decade he would be up to speed with the others there last night knowledge wise.

Trump had a valid reason for his self-restraint; although I would have loved to see him nuke iCarly effing-RINO.

Love how he pandered to her by telling her she is beautiful; thus proving the point that feminists who scream that men only care about their looks and not their brains, are in fact more concerned about their looks than their brains. If they weren't so vain, they'd just roll their eyes and return some sarcasm like, "In your dreams, Don."

And this is why he's going to surprise everyone (except me) and choose Carly Fiorina as his running mate.

Had the same thought this morning. She might kiss his butt on Pennsylvania Avenue before he's done with her.

We are voting on their maturity, their grasp of the issues, and their ability to stay calm under fire. Whose finger do you want on the nuclear button?

I'm in favor of a jock-humored bully with a bad hairstyle and 50 years of business experience risking his entire fortune and family on a regular basis, something no one else on that panel has ever done.

That's what that enormous phony John McCain said when he ran.

I don’t see him having to do that, he really is polling well everywhere.

Considering our enemies today? I will go for the guy that they believe won't be afraid to use it versus someone they are sure will hesitate. It's only a deterrent if your your enemy is afraid you will make use of it, otherwise it's just expensive window dressing.

Yeah, but nobody is noting that Nixon was sick as dog and was told that the makeup would cover it up, and actually made him look worse. All that and the democrats still stole the the election. When your daddy has underworld connections there is nothing you cannot buy.

....”Lots of money and anguish could be saved if we elected Cruz right now. :o)”..............

Not going to happen until the media lets go of the “Trump Show”...and why Cruz laid pretty low at the debate....he’ll wait til the field narrows down and time to speak rather than the school yard scrapping.

Trump IS about winning and keeping his followers engaged and entertained which doesn’t seem to take much to do...he simply needs to continue to sell himself as the new Trump brand of his collection and he’s very good at doing so.

The media is loving Trump because he’s keeping their ratings extremely high....so they are feeding off one another currently....as long as the audience plays too this will continue. Reminds me a lot of when Palin ran....all the elements are the same.

People like to use that debate ....the real story is rarely told though....the public ‘consumes visual’ regardless of the actual circumstances then the media runs with it or/and creates the story to fit whatever bias they have.
