Carson is saying law-abiding folks can stay, but they get no govt assistance. If they continue with a “pristine” record they can stay. But as guest workers only. What their eventual status may, is open to national debate some time after the border is secured and things are regularized.
Trump says all the criminals have to leave, but those with a clean record who have work here can come right back.
The main difference between trump’s and Carson’s is that Carson’s is logistically-easier, and more likely to achieve a high level of adherence.

Carson is Bush, Bush, Christie, Romney, Boehner, McConnell, Clinton, Reid, Pelosi, Obama, and McCain.
I know you’ll think I just thought up every bad name I could think of and tossed it out there, but these people all share his same immigration policies.
Trump is one of us on it.

Oh, and let me add that I don't really approve of either man's plan. I prefer to get rid of all illegals. Period. No guest workers. But the only candidate who has suggested that, even in the abstract, is Walker. And I'd prefer him above any other candidate, except that his candidacy is a little moribund right now.
