Hillary Clinton said the thought of selecting Bill as her running mate has crossed her mind, but added that she has been told its likely unconstitutional.
He would be good, but hes not eligible, under the Constitution, the Democratic frontrunner said of her husband in an interview with Extra. He has served his two terms and I think the argument would be as vice president it would not be possible for him to ever succeed to the position at least thats what Ive been told.
It has crossed my mind, she jokingly added to host Mario Lopez.
Bill and Hillary Clinton are the penicillin-resistant syphilis of our political system.
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once"
The Amendment bars becoming President by being elected. It does not create Constitutional ineligibility to the office.
Amendment XII already says that a VP must be constitutionally eligible to be President, and the Twenty Second Amendment did not alter that requirement. Clinton is not eligible to be President under Amendment XXII, therefore he cannot be Vice President under Amendment XII.
Wrong.
"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.."
Nothing in there about sitting in chairs.
Wrong.
He is 35 years old.
He is a natural born citizen.
He has resided in the United States for the past fourteen years.
He is no longer constitutionally eligible to be elected to the office of President.
He is certainly eligible to become President by succession to the office.
Please post the text of XXII that says he is not eligible "to be President"
That would have been an easy Amendment to write, but that's not the Amendment that was actually written or ratified.
Dear Lord what a lovely can of worms THAT. Would be to throw to the Supreme Court.
Perfect choice. No politician alive has as much hands on experience with vice as Bill.
Does a VP get interns?
SCOTUS could “fix” all of this in a jiffy!
In that scenario, interns should avoid Slick Willy at all costs.
Male interns would automatically avoid Hillary at all costs, becoming monks if necessary.
No he isn't. A man ineligible for the Presidency is ineligible for the Vice Presidency. He could only succeed to the office as Speaker, President Pro Tem, and so on down the line.
Your hair splitting hasn't applied since the election of VP became contingent on the election of his running mate. Voting for a President implies voting for his VP and vice versa.
It was already written in Amendment XII, which has not changed. You’ve made this argument on many threads before, and you’ve been wrong every time.
Amendment XII: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each..."
When was that?
From the 12th Amendment:
“But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.”
Doesn’t say anything about “to be elected.” So I believe your assertion is incorrect.
You’ve made the argument before, and you’ve been wrong every time. Give it up. The electors are selected for the ticket, and claiming that this isn’t so is preposterous.
He beats this dead horse on a routine basis. It’s nonsense and he knows it. It’s just trolling.
I don't.
Just to play Devil’s Advocate, how is Bill being VP and ineligible to be President, any different than when Henry Kissinger was 4th in line as Sec of State, but would have just been passed over, going to Sec of Treasury?
