Who better to replace celebrity turned politician Donald Trump as host of NBC’s "Celebrity Apprentice" than celebrity turned politician Arnold Schwarzenegger?
No one, according to NBC.
The network announced Monday morning that the former California governor will take over the seat relinquished by the GOP presidential front-runner when the show returns to the air next year.
“I have always been a huge fan of ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ and the way it showcases the challenges and triumphs of business and teamwork,” Schwarzenegger said in a statement. “I am thrilled to bring my experience to the boardroom and to continue to raise millions for charity. Let’s get started!"
"Arnold Schwarzenegger is the epitome of a global brand in entertainment and business, and his accomplishments in the political arena speak for themselves,” NBC said in its own statement. "The Celebrity Apprentice … will be back!”
UPDATE, 12:45 p.m.: Former Apprentice host Donald Trump tweeted words of congratuations at Schwarzenegger shortly after NBC's announcements, saying he believe his replacement will "be great & raise lots of [money] for charity."
Trump also apologizes to his fans for being unable to continue with the show, blaming "equal time" for forcing him to stand down.
To bring Trump down, they hire an idiot to take over his show. It will backfire. The show will suck without Trump, especially with Arnold, and it will make Trump look even better.
Instead of “You’re fired”, the new catchphrase will be “f*&@# you a$$h*le”
Ratings will crumble.
A better choice than George Lopez.

Actually Ahnohld’s got a pretty solid record as an entrepreneur. If done right this should let people see a side of him that he keeps out of the public eye.

I shudder to imagine the Democrat that will come after "conservative" Trump if he wins the White House.

There was a dynamic that came with Trump, the daddy Warbucks (for lack of a better example) effect. He was bigger than life and people enjoyed that part of it.
Here comes a disgusting Governor of California along, and folks are supposed to buy in?
I don’t see anything about Schwarzenegger that leads me to believe folks will buy into this concept.
What are they going to do, change the catch phrase from “You’re fired” to “Hasta la vista bebe!”?

Maybe they have an angle they’re planning to play, that will change the show’s format a bit to make it more his style.
If so, perhaps they have a chance.
If they just try to play him off as the new Trump, I can’t see it at all.
He’s about intelligible as a muffin.
I am aware that Arnold has done very well for himself in business. But his difficulty in speaking, combined with his inability to connect like Trump, will doom the show. He does not have the showmanship that Trump does, except when he used to flex his muscles. I’ve seen his management at work in California government, and it was terrible.
I guess Mark Cuban wasn’t available. He could have done a decent job, just not as charismatic.
Maybe he can try humping iron ?
