What a sad indictment on our culture that a twice-divorced Vaishnava, PETA loving vegetarian rock-and-roller who once tried to convince the drug-addicted lead singer of the Sex Pistols to marry her, is now a voice of reason when it comes to the hyper-sexed nature of modern pop music.

Chrissie Hynde is piece of crap. She spewed lots of it after 9/11/01 saying the US deserved to get bombed that the Muslims should kick our ass. FU Chrissie Hynde.

Ha! I read where she allowed him to continue to use it because her parents listened to Rush.

I know she had a Chrissy fit when Rush used her song...but youre right, we often change. I seem to recall that the issue came up back in the 90s, where Rush had to stop using that theme music because her publisher was insisting that his use violated the copyright, or something similar. As I recall, Rush eventually did get permission from her to use the theme, on the basis that her parents like to listen to him, so he can't be all bad.

I recently saw that about her. I read where the resteraunt was considered “one of the top 5 vegan resteraunts in the country.” I guess they needed to be in the top 3 to remain open! :)

I’m not really familiar with her music, but I’m not surprised at the hypocrisy. Maybe she regrets that (her explicit lyrics) as well.

Hmmm not taking sides here but yeah her lyrics were explicit. Because, hello, she was gang raped by a biker gang when she was young.
That’s a different kind of explicit, i.e., not prurient.

Well,,,, yeah,,,, but who were the judges? It didn’t last. I’ve enjoyed some of her music, and am kinda proud that she came from around here.

She was young, granted that.
And if she was sexually assaulted by anyone, that is awful.
The lyrics to one of her biggest hits seemed to me at the time to boast about her sexual prowess, and maybe not the best thing for impressionable teen girls to have been listening to on the radio.
“I was a good time, yeah, I got pretty good
At changing tires upstairs bro
I shot my mouth off and you showed me what that hole was for”.
Be that as it may.
I wish her well and peace.
Thanks

That you would even think or jest about that is Completely Outrageous!
Do you know the scrutiny you place on yourself, and all of us here at FR, suggesting terrorism and murder?
Do you?
Mods, watch this guy.

She had no issue with Rush using her song until stupid liberals brought it up. Her Mother was a fan of Rush and advised her daughter to let him use it. I think Rush donated to PETA or something in exchange for the rights to the song.

Reminds of the Dennis Leary rant on Keith Richards....
I was reading an interview with Keith Richards in a magazine and in the interview Keith Richards intimated that kids should not do drugs. Keith Richards! Says that kids should not do drugs! Keith, we can’t do any more drugs because you already did them all, alright? There’s none left! We have to wait ‘til you die and smoke your ashes!

I remember seeing that album on prominent display back in 1980 at a little indie record shop, and I wondered what the "Pretenders" was all about. I didn't have to wait long to find out. I still enjoy hearing "Brass In Pocket," even if Chrissy has so far proven to be flaky.

“are nothing more than prostitutes. In accusing such singers of doing a great deal of damage to women with their risqué performances, the exact label used by Hynde was sex worker.
I disagree. They are doing nothing more than creating and
inventing new ways to use the things God gave them to
make a living.
