So you think Donald Trumps demagoguery on immigration has created problems for the other GOP candidates? Well, another very ripe opportunity for Trump to make his GOP rivals even more miserable may be lurking right around the corner, and it could expose the same sort of schism between GOP elites and GOP voters that Trumps forays into immigration policy have.
Im talking about the massive global trade deal called the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Some time in the next six months in late 2015 or in early 2016 the participating nations may finally reach a deal on the TPP. That may well come just when the GOP primaries are heating up.
Virtually all of the major GOP presidential candidates, including Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, and Marco Rubio, all support the TPP, as do Republican Congressional leaders.
But, in a little noticed move a few days ago, Trump signaled that he might be headed in a very different direction on the TPP soon enough. After his terrific and wonderful rally outside the Capitol the other day, Trump met with Senator Jeff Sessions, and both men enthusiastically recounted that they had had a good conversation about immigration and
. trade. Said Trump: The meeting was great!

Republican elites want to lay off more Americans.
Funny to see them rail against welfare.
I git ya but where are the good-paying jobs?
Just saying Trump is a problem for the GOP demonstrates the true problem in Washington.
To be perfectly clear, "GOP elites" are actually ELECTED GOP Representatives.
That would make them non-Representatives....
The GOP policy is hard to tell apart from the Democrats.
The Uniparty speaks with one voice and ain’t for America.
Liberal Ted Rall can’t figure it out either... who the heck is this guy???
And the unelected handful who write very big checks.
-—So you think Donald Trumps demagoguery...—
Nope, no bias there. Only ‘journalistic’ professionalism.
TPP and giving fast-track authority to the likes of 0bama is a self defeating proposition. Anyone who wants to preserve the American ideal instinctively knows this.
I sometimes wonder if the TPP and H1B issues are what’s keeping Cruz in single digits.
Along with the Corker Bill, this is another piece of horrible legislation that ‘Mr Conservative’ Ted Cruz supported.
Judge them by their actions and not their words....
I’ve met these types before.
They literally don’t care if you and your family starve. As long as it means a few more dollars in their wallet.
Oh yeah, the GOPe, media, talking heads, spineless sissies, washington cartel, ‘sewer city’ they are going to be going crazy!!!
Better get Rove and George Will life support...they are going to need it...
I can see what Trump is going to do, come out on one of his rallies and tell it like it should be and show us what stupid people we have in our government....
I can't wait for this to happen....!!!
Yeah. Elected like Cochran was elected. Lied to get elected like McCain, Flake, and Ayotte did. etc
From the Washington Post
"Greg Sargent writes The Plum Line blog, a reported opinion blog with a liberal slant -- what you might call opinionated reporting from the left. He joined the Post in early 2009, after stints at Talking Points Memo, New York Magazine and the New York Observer. He lives in Maryland with his wife, son and daughter."
Liberals are worried.
Cruz jumped the shark on TPA. He has other warts but TPA was a huge mistake from which he has not recovered.
Trump is a nightmare... for the political class.
I don't wonder at all. Cruz would do well to spend a few years being mentored by Jeff Sessions.
