At the end of seven years you will make a release. And this is the manner of the release: to release the hand of every creditor from what he lent his friend; he shall not exact from his friend or his brother, because the time of the release for the L‑rd has arrived. (Deuteronomy 15:12) שחרור Release

My question would be - how common is lightening in and around the area?

Thanks for the Jewish history lesson, those are great principles, and it is a rich Biblical heritage, but if I remember correctly, wasn't it the Jews who looked directly into the face of God Almighty and said away with Him, give us the murderer?
My point is that I don't live my life in 2015 based on what laws were given to the Jews 3500 years ago, (laws they themselves could not keep), instead I live my life based on the FINISHED work of Jesus Christ, and His substitutionary sacraficial death on the cross for my sins.

find a Calvary Chapel to attend. They go through the Bible verse by verse to teach what it all means; the root words and culture. I love Calvary Chapel (CC) & Chuck Smith (yes I know he's in Heaven with the Lord.) Been familiar with them since 1988. I have been listening to Chuck on my way home from work lately. Hope to meet him in Heaven one day. I have been listening to many CC preachers on CSNRadio.com for years and we have a fairly new Christian station in central & southwest VA - EquipFM.com that is CC affiliated. Just tuned in and am listening to CC Lynchburg, VA. BTW, I have several hundred of Chuck's podcasts on my computer.
Having said all that,my only minor point of disagreement with Chuck was on his "focus" on the KJV. Just give me plain old easy to read NIV. It works for kids, international, etc. I'll take NKJV, NASB and any other version that strives to be translated accurately.
(I just hope this doesn't turn into a debate on versions of God's word.)

To me, the most Shemitah-like event in recent days has been the massive influx of Muslims into Europe. This launches the final stage of the dismantling of Western, Christian civilization, long desired by the left and the Islamists, who are partnering in the effort.

Presumptuous on your part.
” Presumptuous: (of a person or their behavior) failing to observe the limits of what is permitted or appropriate.”

I agree!
I fear God’s judgment on America for 56,000,000 abortions and everything else America has done in their efforts to reject HIM! How about the betrayal of Israel?

"Rainbows are an optical phenomenon - like an image in a mirror or like a mirage in the desert. They may have an "apparent" location ("up in the sky", etc.) and an "apparent" size ("all the way from the TransAmerica Building to the Coit Tower"), but in actual fact, they don't exist in a concrete sense and therefore have no "real" location."
You could make the same claim about anything. Science says that even what we call solid, physical objects are actually mostly empty space, and that their apparent solidity is a function of our sense perception.

I hear ya! My CC has a new pastor whom I really love. He uses KJV and I had to get one so I could follow along but it’s not nearly as easy as the other pastor that was there that used NKJV
This is definitely a church where you learn the Word though, eh??

I looked and I have yet to find the word Shemitah anywhere in Scriptures. And if its not in the Word of God, I am not required to believe it.Oh my goodness . . .
Shemittah is mentioned plenty of times in the Torah. It's the Hebrew word (the Torah is written in Hebrew, you know) usually translated "sabbatical year" in KJV English.

Could it be that man KNOWS NOTHING in regard to the divine plan?
As usual we will LEARN of and UNDERSTAND more of the "Divine Plan" as it happens.

O.k so the Torah is written in Hebrew and the KJV Bible is written in English, the point being? You see, I'm an English speaking Christian, who reads the English language Bible. Not a Hebrew speaking Jew who reads the Hebrew Torah, and like I said, the word, Shemitah is no where in the the English speaking Bible.
Now as far as that "sabbatical year" goes, do you have English language New Testament verses that point to evidence that I as a Christian should be at all concerned with it? Were Christians in the New Testament, put under some sabbatical law that perhaps I should be made aware of?

The word shemittah, which is translated as something else in the English bible, isn't in your English bible! Scandal! Horror! And the Hebrew word 'Eloqim (which is translated "G-d" in English) isn't in your English bible! I guess that means it's a sin for you believe in 'Eloqim because it "isn't in" your English bible!
I didn't realize there was a different "true religion" for each language of the world.

Is there some reason you believe in a "new testament," other than simply what it says about itself? Hey, if it simply authorizes itself I guess you'll have to believe in the "book of mormon" too!

I took them both for good signs, a rainbow here, lightning in Mecca. Seemed good to me.

I didn't realize there was a different "true religion" for each language of the world There isn't, there's only one true religion, Christianity! Any other religion is works based, which is akin to witchcraft.
Is there some reason you believe in a "new testament,
Because I choose to, and that works for me.
I guess you'll have to believe in the "book of mormon" too!
Well, you guessed wrong.

I don’t either for I am saved by grace and the fulfillment of The Law by my Savior.
I was ansering your statement that you could not find shemitah in The Bible.
I made no other comment.
